The Book of Revelation gets treated like a code book or a scare tactic, but we come at it the way Scripture presents it: an unveiling meant to bring freedom, clarity, and comfort. From our pulpit at Valley Gospel Church in Springdale, Pennsylvania, we lean into the “blessed hope” and the promise that Jesus Christ is coming again, physically and soon, whether the culture is ready for that truth or not.
We trace Revelation back to John on Patmos, then tackle why end times teaching becomes so misunderstood: speculation, internet theories, and reading the Bible to prove what we already think. We compare popular claims about the second coming with the plain warnings of Jesus in Matthew 24, including spiritual deception, wars and rumors of wars, pestilence, earthquakes, and the chilling reality that love can grow cold when iniquity abounds.
We also slow down for a clear, Bible-based distinction many people mix up: the rapture versus the second coming. Walking through 1 Thessalonians 4, we talk about being “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air, and why that urgency is meant to produce readiness, not panic. From there we move to Revelation 19 and the meaning of Armageddon, not as a movie metaphor, but as a picture of final justice and Satan’s ultimate defeat.
If you’ve avoided biblical prophecy because it feels dark or confusing, let this be a reset toward hope and a call to be ready. Subscribe, share this message with someone you love, and leave a review that helps more people find clear teaching on Revelation, the rapture, and the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Welcome And Church Mission
SPEAKER_05Hello, welcome to Valley Gospel Church. We are a non-denominational Pentecostal church located in Springdale, Pennsylvania. Our sole mission is to present the living truth of a risen Lord, Jesus Christ, to a remnant church and a lost world. So let's go into the service recorded live at Valley Gospel Church.
SPEAKER_01You know, I think uh
Why End Times Preaching Matters
SPEAKER_01probably one of the most overlooked subjects in in ministry is end time events. Um and I don't often preach on end time events, not as often as I should, I believe. Um but as the Holy Spirit began to minister to me this morning's message, uh I resisted. And he continued uh on what he wanted, what he desired the subject matter to be this morning. Um look, some Sundays, actually a lot of Sundays, and I don't mean Sundays as getting ready, but in preparation, uh though sometimes it's a struggle because maybe the Holy Spirit will give you some subject matter early in the week, and then all these thoughts start coming into your head, how you can make it better, how you can improve on what the Holy Spirit is telling you to bring, uh, and you get off track. You get off track as to what the Holy Spirit wanted in the first place, what he was directing you to bring. But as I resisted in this message, uh he spoke these words to my heart. And this is one of those things that you know you think you'll never forget. Uh I used to do that all the time, where I would, the Holy Spirit would try to tell me something, and I go, oh, that that's so profound, that is so wonderful, that's so great. I'll never forget that. And I wake up in the morning and it's gone. It's gone. I have no idea what it was, what it was about. So it's become my habit now is to write it down. As soon as he gives it to me, I write it down. And here's the words he spoke to my heart. It is in my entire word that my children are liberated. In the age in which you live, when it appears there are no answers, and it seems like there is no hope, they shall find freedom and comfort in the blessed hope. And he ended with these words, and I always know it's serious. Therefore, Pastor, comfort my children.
Revelation’s Purpose And Jesus’ Return
SPEAKER_01The 66th book of the Bible is the book of Revelation. It is sometimes called the Apocalypse, the Revelation. It revelation means the unveiling of something unknown. It was written by John the Beloved as he was inspired to write by the Holy Spirit. Now, John at the time, this is important to understand what's happening at this particular time. John at the time of this supernatural touch to write the book that we that we open with this morning, is on the island of Patmos. He's in prison by by the Romans, by Caesar. Patmos is an island, an island prison, like Alcatraz. It's about 40 miles west of Miletus, it's in the Aegean Sea. And he was sentenced to hard labor. He's either at or closing in on a hundred years of age. And this is following Jesus' ascension, his return to heaven. And on one particular Sunday, the Lord's Day, the Bible calls it, he was in high worship. John was, and he said, I saw Jesus. I saw him. John said, I fell at his feet as dead, and the Lord told me to write what he would show me in this book. Write it down, not to create mystery or to confuse or to hide secret codes, not at all. But to alert, to educate, to comfort, to tell of the last days, Satan's ultimate demise, to tell of the new Jerusalem, the throne of God, heaven's jubilee, glory, glory, and the return of Jesus Christ. Now the main theme of the book of Revelation is the second coming of Jesus Christ. And church, make no mistake. Make no mistake. He's coming. He's coming. He's coming again, and I believe he's coming soon. Some say they don't believe in a physical return. Pardon my bluntness. I don't really care what you believe. Hallelujah. Your Bible says he's coming. He's coming physically again. The Holy Ghost said he's coming again. The Father said he's coming again. He is called faithful and true, King of kings and Lord of Lords. He also has a name that no one knows but he himself. Glory, can't wait to hear what that is. He will not be the same Jesus that walked the shores of Galilee. He won't be. Not the same Jesus that was lampooned and laughed at. He won't be the same weakened man that had a crown of thorns driven onto his head, or was, I had, I saw it today, or was beaten with the flagrum. What kind of mind makes this? You know, if you study this out, it said there were sheep bones, broken sheep bones that were put on the end and iron balls on the end to do as much damage as possible to the person who received this punishment. What evil makes this up? No spikes will be driven through his wrists. When he comes back, he will come back with all authority, all power, and all truth. Glory. He's coming back to judge the nations. A reign of righteousness will be restored on this earth. And there, you know, there are so many scriptures. You always, from those that say, well, he's not really coming back. They, I don't know how you can omit or not see the scriptures. Genesis 5 talks about his return. Numbers talks about his return. Isaiah 59 talks about his return. Jeremiah 23 talks about Jesus' return. Daniel 2 talks about it. Amos 5, hallelujah. Zechariah 2. All talk about the return of Jesus Christ.
Satan’s Aim To Slow The Church
SPEAKER_01Chrissy, let's punch in. Hallelujah. I'll explain to you someday why I tell Chrissy we're punching in. The book of Revelation is a book of prophecy. It emphasizes the violent attacks that will come against the church of the living God. Some small, some great. It tells us these attacks are solely for one purpose, of slowing or halting the progress, not of Jesus, not of God, of the church. To halt or to slow the progress of the church. You say, why? Why would he want to slow the progress or diminish it? To slow or interrupt the return of Jesus Christ. Why? To give Satan time to win souls for hell. That's what it's all about. That he might win more souls for hell. Look, Satan knows, he knows the word of God. He knows where he's going. He knows where every unsaved soul is going. He knows the unsaved. Maybe your sister, maybe your brother, maybe your aunt, your uncle, your friend at work were given to Jesus as an inheritance. That was Jesus' inheritance. He knows that. But he thinks he found a loophole. Satan thinks he found a loophole to steal Jesus' inheritance. Your uncle, your aunt, your mother, your father, your brother, your children. He thinks he found a loophole and condemned them to hell. And by the way, eternity is a long, long time. The loophole he thinks he's found is that he can lure them away from God, that he can substitute good intentions for truth. That he can offer other gospels that are a little more amenable to the modern-day saint. That he can offer religion, that he can get you to abandon your faith. Look, he's not trying to stop what God said. That's not possible. What God said is coming to pass. He can't do that. He knows that's even beyond him. What he's hoping for is that loophole that he can lure those away to slow events until Jesus returns to slow the church from reaching out, to slow you from telling others about Jesus Christ, to retard the gospel from going forward. That's his intention.
Revelation 22 Reading And Prayer
SPEAKER_01So if you have your Bibles, turn with me. Turn with Chrissy, please, to the book of Revelation. Revelation, a lot of scripture today. Bear with me. Revelation 22 to begin. Whenever you get there, I'll ask you to stand for the reading of God's word. Revelation 22 and 10. And we'll read to verse 20, I think.
SPEAKER_05And he said to me, Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still. He who is filthy, let him be filthy still. He who is righteous, let him be righteous still. He who is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with me, to give to everyone according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are those who do his commandments, that they may be that they may have the right to the of life. I'm sorry, to the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and adult idolaters and whoever loves and practices a lie. I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to the to you to these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and the morning star, and the spirit and the bride say, Come, and let him who hears say, Come, and let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify to everyone who hears the words of this prophecy of this book. If anyone adds to these things, God will add him to the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of this book, of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from this book of life, from the holy city, from the things which are written in this book. He who testifies to these things says, Surely I am coming quickly. Amen. Even so come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
SPEAKER_01Amen. Amen. I'll use for a subject this long title, but maybe we'll shorten it to just the first two words, Donna. These things which must shortly be done. But maybe we'll just title it these things. Amen. Let's pray. Father. Our eyes have been enlightened to know the hope of that which you have shown us, that which you have called us to, to know the peace, the power of a personal relationship with you, to experience the joy of your spirit, to walk in your spirit, to be led by your spirit. And Lord, we lift you up this morning. Your light, your love, let it fill this tabernacle. Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness, your protection. You are a cloud by day, you are a fire by night. You extend your hand when we need your help. You lift us up when we fall. Help us, Lord. Help us to see and embrace this ministry that you've set before us. Show us how to reach out. Lord, you have ordained, you've gathered this assembly together. Empower each and every one of us to do our part in being a beacon and a lot of lighthouse. And Lord, let this word this morning, let this understanding of the book that you said carries and uh a guaranteed blessing. Lord, let it let it permeate hearts and minds. It is in your name we pray. Amen and amen. Amen. Amen. Thank you. Please be seated.
Why Revelation Gets Misread
SPEAKER_01You know, the book of Revelation is probably the most misunderstood, misinterpreted, and confused book in the entirety of the Word of God. Uh I talked with a pastor, I believe it was last year, and he told me that he wasn't sure how to approach the book of Revelation, therefore he didn't touch it, that he had never preached from the book of Revelation. So many theories, so many ideas regarding the second coming of Jesus that have been thought up, that have been conjured up, that have been contrived, that have been squeezed out of a couple of scriptures. And let me say this: I don't believe there's a subject or an area of study in the entirety of the Bible that the Holy Spirit won't reveal to you if you open your heart and mind. Don't go in with a preconceived notion. Don't say this is what I believe prove me wrong. Just open your head. Just open your brain. The Holy Spirit will reveal it to you. He'll show you the truth. If we read and we study with the Holy Ghost headlights on, He'll show you. The trouble in the error comes when we try to, is when we try to force our beliefs into uh, and whether they come from our theology, our personal theology, and that's dangerous. That that's why I always say that me and Jesus thing, that you're gonna just stay home and you're gonna study, that's dangerous. That's where that's where confusion and deception comes in. Amen. And maybe we picked it up from preachers that we listen to on radio or internet or try to get the and we try to get the word to prove what we already believe. We try to get the word to line up with what we believe. Jamie, was that reading this morning? Did that touch on what you opened with this morning? My mind. Some churches teach, just so you know what kind of theology is out there, some churches teach that the second coming of Jesus was on the day of Pentecost, that he actually accompanied the Holy Ghost. Your Bible said Jesus went away so he could send the Holy Ghost. That's not the second coming. Another teaching is the second coming is individually when we're saved, uh, as opposed to a physical second coming. That the second coming of Christ is individually, it comes in each of us when we accept the Lord. Your Bible says he's coming back exactly as he left to the Mount of Olivet. That is not the second coming. Still another says that he came back in 70 AD at the destruction of Jerusalem. But Zachariah said he's not coming at the destruction of Jerusalem, he's coming to restore Jerusalem. Hallelujah. This that also is not the second coming. Some teach that preaching, believe this. Some teach that preaching is the second coming. That when we got the Bible in it, it started to be uh uh uh expod that through the exposition of the word that that was the second coming of Christ. Uh preaching the word has been around for centuries, but his word says he'll come suddenly, physically, and without warning. Hallelujah. There's much speculation, just those are just a couple of examples. I could go on in in twelve studies to give you all the. The supposition and the teachings that are out there about the timing of his return if it is physical. Let's go to
Signs And Warnings From Matthew 24
SPEAKER_01Matthew. Just I want to touch on this. Matthew 24. 24 beginning with 32. And I prayed, I pray nobody's in a hurry today. A lot to cover, a lot of scripture. I'll try to be as brief as I can. Matthew 24 and 32. Now, learn a parable. Whoop, whoop, whoop. No, that's right. Now learn the parable of the fig tree. When his branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh. So likewise ye, when ye shall see these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass to all the the all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking and marrying and giving giving in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and told them all away, and took them all away, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. Then shall two be in the field, one shall be taken, the other left, two women shall be grinding at the meal, the one taken, the other left. Watch there watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come, but know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Ah just one more. Therefore, be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh. I'll just stop right there for a minute. It's not only impossible, it's even foolish to try to say set the date for Jesus' return. 42. 42, listen. Watch therefore, for you know not what hour the Lord shall come. Watch, but you don't know. Watch, but you know not. So what are we watching for? Oh those signs. Those signs. Let's back up same chapter for just a minute. I'll we'll go quickly. Uh same chapter 24 and 5. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and shall deceive many. You see, if you have a read letter edition, these are the words of Jesus Himself. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that ye be not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Verse 7, for nation shall rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilence and earthquakes in diverse places. All these are the beginning of sorrow. Verse eleven, and many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many, and because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. fifteen. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel, the prophet, stand in the holy place, whosoever readeth let him understand. twenty four for there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders insomuch if it were possible they should deceive even the very elect. Oh those signs. Those signs. Although it's impossible to know the day or the hour, we are, however, responsible to know the season. We are responsible to know the times leading up to the second coming of Jesus Christ. Two things we know. That the second coming will be subsequent to the rapture of the church, and it will be prior to the thousand-year reign of Jesus. Now wait, wait, Pastor. Isn't the rapture and the second coming the same thing? No, not at all. Scripture doesn't teach it. Two separate events. Two separate events, actually separated by seven years, but two distinct events. There are signs and prophecies that must be fulfilled before the second coming. The
Rapture Versus Second Coming
SPEAKER_01least or the greatest, depending on your perspective, might be the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. Amen. Where right now today stands an Islamic temple, the Dome of the Rock. There or about, certainly, temple grounds would be close. There's nothing that has to take place before the rapture. Nothing. Say, well, I'll wait. I'll hold off until I see. Amen. Look, we know that the second coming of Jesus will be exactly, you know, that that no man knoweth the day nor the hour. Not talking about the second coming. Because we know that the second coming will be 1,182 days from the very day that the Antichrist stands in the temple and declares himself to be God. 1100 days later, Jesus is coming. So we know exactly when it'll be. We don't know when the rapture will take place. Isn't it true that the Bible doesn't say rapture? Yeah, that's true. That's absolutely true. It uses words and phrases like catching away, uh caught up, meeting in the air. That argument doesn't hold any any water at all because the Bible also doesn't say picnic. Right? It uses words like feast, right? Or breaking bread. Glory. It doesn't say, it doesn't say park, it says garden. We have a different idea. It doesn't say, it doesn't say pickup truck, it says chariot. I had a 76 pickup, Sam, I called my chariot. Hallelujah. I'm gonna I want you to decide. Turn to 1 Thessalonians. And you can decide if it describes the rapture or not. Up to you. There are no prophecies, no events that need to be fulfilled prior to the rapture. Jesus could appear in the clouds today. Today, before we leave service, and do no injustice to his word. If he does, I pray that God would rise all of us up together to meet him because it will not be pleasant here. It will not be pleasant here after that happens. Well, we're all going, right? Everybody's going, right? Well, let me read this and you be the judge. Let's start, um. We're in 1 Thessalonians 4. All right, let's go. We'll start with 13. 4 and 13. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, not talking about those that are asleep, talking about those that have died in Christ. That ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. So those who died outside of Christ, who he's referring to, are those who died outside of Christ and have no hope now. And he said, Look, I don't want you guys to worry about your loved ones, your mother, your dad who died in Christ. They're fine. They'll be fine. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them which are asleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you, by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of our Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first, and we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Glory. Sound like a rapture to you? Or does it sound like or caught up, a catching away? The Greek word for the second coming is parosia. It means presence on earth. Presence on earth at the second coming. At the rapture, Jesus never touches the earth. Amen. We, you and I, will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Glory. Actually, one mile, one mile. If you look at the Greek interpretation for air, it's not A-I-R, it's A-E-R. And it means within one mile of the earth. So when you look up and see that plane that flies over, about a mile high, that jet, that's where Jesus, that's the level that he's coming to. Glory. At the rapture, Jesus never touches this earth. At the second coming, and you can find, we're not going to take Revelation 14. It says he's coming with wrath and vengeance, reaping punishment on the and on his enemies of the church in power and in great glory. Revelation 19 says that he'll bring his saints with him at the second coming. Glory, glory, glory. Resurrected or raptured alive. Not only will the church be with Jesus along with 500 trillion angels. Trillion with a T. Glory. Let's look at it a moment. Back in Revelation. I'm hurrying. Revelation
Armageddon And Evil’s Defeat
SPEAKER_0119 and 17. And I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God, for that ye may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, the king of the earth, and their armies gathered together to make more war against him that sat on the horse and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophets that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast in these images, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into the lake of fire, burning with brimstone, and the remnant were slain, and the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceedeth out of the mouth, and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. Armageddon. Armageddon. It's a term we read in books, we see on movies, right? We describe epic battles as Armageddon, uh Snow Mageddon, huh? It's a term that describes so much. It appears in scripture only once. That's 16 and 16, Revelation. It comes from two Hebrew words, Har and Meghetto. Har meaning hill country, uh, Meghetto meaning rendezvous. Rendezvous. The hills of Meghetto. Canaan, uh, that fell to Joshua, had Meghetto as its capital, just to give you some perspective. An area between the Euphrates River and the Nile River. It's been a battlefield many times. The greatest battle of all times will be fought there. Immediately after the Great Tribulation, after the marriage supper of the Lamb, Jerusalem will be surrounded. The Bible tells us that half the city will be taken. At Armageddon, the army of God, the heavenly army, of which you will be a part, under the leadership of our king, the commander-in-chief, Mama, of this revelation army, will battle the armies of earth under the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. With Christ will be earthly Israel, the angels of God and raptured saints. The Antichrist will unite with devils and demons, fallen angels and lost souls. And as the fog lifts on that great and fateful day, the Antichrist and his armies will be totally obliterated, except for one-sixth that will remain alive. Nations will be punished for their persecution of the Jews. All of the Middle East who right now hate Israel, who want to, from the river to the sea, that want to push all the Jews off the face of this earth will be punished. Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, most of the Middle East. The battle appears to be very, very short. Zachariah said it'll last, he even used the term, about a day. About a day. It will be total defeat for Satan and his armies. And listen to this. The bodies will be resurrected after they've been killed, resurrected and cast alive into the lake of fire. Then the devil, Satan, the Elzebub, Lucifer, the dragon, the usurper, the liar, the thief, or as my friend Hilda used to call him, that slew foot son of a serpent, uh, will be plucked from a hillside by an angel and sent to the bottomless pit. Jesus then will set up his eternal kingdom. Amen. Uh again, we won't take the time to look it up for sake of time, but you find that in Revelation 21, 1 through 4 and 22, 1 through 5. As I
Living Ready With Blessed Hope
SPEAKER_01close this morning, I'd like to remember the value of the whole that the Holy Spirit places on understanding the end time. And uh I'll be honest with you, I had to repent because I don't want to bring this dark message, especially on a Sunday following, a great Saturday, and all the worship. And I had to repent because I resisted bringing what he had given me, the value for us today. They're not prose, they're not uh literary license or uh some type of symbolism. Uh these are a cataclysmic event that will soon befall the the earth and all of humanity. All of humanity. It's pretty hard not to see that we're rushing at breakneck speed toward the conclusion of life as we know it. If you can't see that, you've got blinders on. You've got you're shuttered. Look around, we see the wars, the rumors of wars, the breakdown of decency on the streets in public. Amen. The dishonesty everywhere. And I really believe it could be at any time. The rapture of the church will end any life that we are familiar with on earth. Uh if you miss the rapture, if you miss it, and there's only one way to miss it, unbelief. If you miss the rapture, this world will not even resemble what you're used to at all. Uh this world will fall into seven years of tribulation, the likes of which we can't even begin to understand or imagine. Stephen King couldn't dream up anything like what the tribulation is going to be like. The good news is the tribulation wasn't meant for you. Wasn't meant for you. Hell isn't meant for you. Look, I'm not an end times fanatic, I'm not a doomsday preacher, but this truth will set you free. This truth will set you free. Jesus said, when you see these things, what things? The signs. When you see these things, look up. Look up, your redemption draweth nigh. Look up, victory is about to arrive. Look up, death has been defeated. Glory. Look up, because on a great white stallion, very soon, behold your king. Glory, glory, glory. Behold the lamb, his hair white like snow, like wool, his eyes flames of fire, his vesture soaked in blood. His name is King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Jesus, Yeshua, Joshua the mighty king. He's returned to catch his bride. You are his bride. The question is, will his bride be ready? Will his bride be ready? Our choice is to decide if we will ride with him or ride against him. That's the only two things there are. There aren't a whole lot of gray areas here, alright? It's very black and white. You either ride with him or you ride against him. The Lord
Altar Call For Salvation
SPEAKER_01revealed me to me and I didn't hear this with you and I know we can get a little bit and I know we can do this wonderful little message for a Sunday morning. Oh my god, what kind of mind would I be if I didn't give it to you? I feel really compelled. I feel compelled to open this altar for prayer for salvation. Whatever the Lord is moving on you. Bring your hair, bring your unbelief, bring your power, let's drag them. Come to receiver the Lord. Come to receiver the Lord. Be faithful in the realm. Bring your bring your dad. Bring your head. Bring your your religion. I don't take it down. Leave it here. Leave it here. Hallelujah.
