A thousand years of failed predictions have left many believers wary of talking about the end times at all. We take that hesitation head-on—not with new dates or blood moon charts, but with a clear, Scripture-first call to live ever ready, rejoicing in the promise of Christ’s return. From Luke 21’s “lift up your heads” to Acts 1’s assurance that “this same Jesus” will return in like manner, we chart the difference between the rapture and the second coming, why timing games sow doubt, and how the Spirit is gathering a remnant who loves His appearing.

We walk through 2 Thessalonians 2 to expose clever deceptions and hype that turn hope into fear, then linger in 1 Thessalonians 4 where Paul anchors the Church in comfort: the Lord descends with a shout, the dead in Christ rise, and those alive are caught up to meet Him in the air. Along the way, we reclaim “occupy till I come” as an active, joyful readiness—less spreadsheet and speculation, more holiness and witness. Expectant living reshapes priorities: worship deepens, mission sharpens, and the Bride listens for the distant announcement that the Bridegroom draws near.

You’ll hear why the Church need not dread His appearing, how misreading Matthew 24 breeds anxiety, and what it means to be part of a remnant that refuses both cynicism and sensationalism. The vision is vivid and practical: leave the timing to the Father, encourage one another daily, build the wall of Zion, and live as if the trumpet might sound within the hour. If your heart longs for hope without hype, for clarity that leads to courage, this message is for you.

If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with someone who needs hope today, and leave a review to help others find the show. Tell us: what practice helps you live expectant and unafraid?

Why Preach About The End Times

Year 1000 Panic And Failed Predictions

SPEAKER_00

This morning's message isn't one that's mentioned very often. Actually, it's occasional. But it isn't preached much at all. And I've come to realize that it should be preached not only regularly, but often. In I was doing some podcasts last week, and in one of the previews that AI writes on the podcast, it called me an end times preacher. And I thought, as opposed to what, a regular preacher? I didn't understand. And I don't necessarily disagree with that identity, I'm okay with that. But shouldn't we be both? Shouldn't first century preachers up till today be end times preachers? After all, Jesus was coming in the first century, and Jesus is coming today. So it's the same. And if he isn't, if he isn't uh coming, maybe we need to rethink our Christianity. Maybe we need to re-examine it. Chrissy, let's go to work. It was the year 1000, and the world faced some of its darkest times. Uh boy, the way even the comment, the commentary, and Teddy's comments today, but in the year 1000, there was worldwide apostasy. Islam was growing exponentially, violence was increasing, crime was rampant, and the people were panic stricken. Terrible calamities, plagues, pestilence, famine, wars, rumors of wars. But it seems some of the greatest reasons for this panic was what was being preached. Some of the revival preachers, the evangelists of that day, were preaching the return of Jesus. And they said it would happen that year. Because there were signs, signs in the moon, signs in the stars, supermoons, blood moons, wolf moons. And while preaching Jesus' return is what we should all do, that he's coming back, the mistake was they said it would happen by 1001. That's what they were preaching. And as the year 1000 passed, uh the belief that it would be in that, that would be the last year on earth grew to such proportions the people began to quit their jobs. They began building slowed across the world. People began emptying savings accounts, uh, spent all they had. The very rich began to move, Christians began to move to Israel, to Jerusalem, to be there to help rebuild the temple for Jesus' return. But when the year clicked from December 31st to January 1st, there was no rapture, there was no second coming, no temple. The people returned to their jobs, to their building, to their way of life, disappointed in their church, in these preachers, in their pastors, they felt misled and duped, some having lost, wasted, squandered all they had. Maybe there was no second coming. Maybe there was no rapture, maybe there was no return. And the pendulum had swung. So if you have your Bibles, turn with Chrissy, please, to Luke twenty-one. Luke twenty-one. A third of the four Gospels. Twenty-one and twenty-five.

For the powers of heaven shall be shaken, and then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift your heads, for your redemption draw draws nigh.

SPEAKER_00

The message that God has given me for this morning is one of truth, one of hope, uh, one of expectancy without entering into a realm of hype or deception or delusion. In a message entitled, Ever Ready a Christian Awakening.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Ever Ready a Christian Awakening. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you, Lord. Thank you for this glimpse of reality, Lord, this glimpse of truth, not only then, but now. Lord, I'm asking you to open your word today, Lord, reveal it to your people that we might be better served and better serve you. It is in the name of your soon coming Son we pray. Amen and amen.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

Loving His Appearing: Comfort And Hope

SPEAKER_00

Please be seated. I read that year and that year account in a book on church history. And I found out that it wasn't an isolated incident. And in fact, it happens just about every year that Jesus is coming now. He's coming that year. Now I'm going to talk about two events. I'm going to talk about the rapture and the second coming. Not the same event. Two separate, distinct events. I need you to know that because we kind of sometimes smoosh them together and they become one thing. And they're not one thing. The rapture is imminent, could happen at any moment. The second coming will follow seven years of tribulation. That's when Jesus comes back. At the rapture, Jesus never touches this earth. We rise to meet him in the air. At the second coming, he sets his feet on all of that. Hallelujah. And you and I are with him. Glory. This happens every year. In 1843, William Miller wrote in his book, Evidence of Christ's Coming, that Jesus would definitely return in 1843. Now, when he didn't, Mr. Miller recalculated to 1847. When he didn't come then, he became the head of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. More recently, Jesus was to come back in 1947. Then he was supposed to come back in 1988. Some of you will remember sunrise Rosh Hashanah. That's when Jesus would come back. Then the year 2000, turn of the century, Y2K. Whoa. But he didn't, and they said it's 2001 because it's actually the century doesn't begin until 01. Then in 2011, Israel's independence. That's when he was coming. Then 2012. You remember the study? The end of the Mayan calendar. The Mayan calendar was no, it only reached that point, and that would certainly be when Jesus comes back. And more recently, solar eclipse. Jesus was coming back. While we absolutely know that the rapture is imminent, that his return is sure and can happen at any moment, date setting, time setting is a delusion. It's a delusion. In fact, it's a tool of the devil. Why? It's a tool of the devil because the ramifications make us doubtful. He didn't come in 88, he didn't come in 2001, he didn't come in 2000. Maybe he's not coming. Just what happened in the year 1000. It's not new. We become complacent. Date setting is misleading. It's unscriptural. So even the most well-meaning, sincere pastor-preacher stops preaching about his coming. We don't mention it anymore. We omit the book of Revelation. We rarely, if ever, mention the rapture of the church because it's been so faked, so forged, uh, and that leads to confusion. Confusion about the rapture, the second coming. Is there a rapture? You know, the uh if I if I had a nickel for every time someone told me, you know, the Bible doesn't mention rapture. Yet calls it by a whole bunch of different names. Yeah, you're right, it doesn't say rapture. And that opens up a whole new can of worms. Is it pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib? And if you if you're not familiar with that, that being, will Jesus catch away his bride, we are his bride, before all hell breaks loose? Uh, or in the middle of hell on earth, or after seven years of hell on earth. Pre-tribers say that the rapture is followed by the great tribulation. That's what we believe that the Bible teaches, that we will be God's children are not appointed to his wrath. And we believe that God will rescue his children prior to that great tribulation. Then uh post-tribers say, the kingdom is now. The kingdom is now uh and and we're actually going to work to allow him to return. And mid-tribers say, yeah, we're not sure, it's somewhere in there. So many others say they have it all figured out, calculated, logical. Uh we've crunched all the numbers, we did the math. But your Bible doesn't say count, calculate, figure, multiply, divide. That's not what the word of God has to say. Your Bible says be ever ready. Ever ready. Don't ignore what's coming because of false teachings, don't ignore what's coming because of confusion or fake news. And I believe I'm bringing this message today so we won't be shaken. So we won't be deceived. We won't be ignorant of his return. Let's see what the Apostle Paul has to say in 2 Thessalonians. This is one of Colet and I's favorite scriptures. Well, not this one, but it's coming. 2 Thessalonians 2. 2 and 2. That ye be not soon shaken in mind or be troubled, neither by spirit nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. Those that set dates, uh, that set times or events, moons, eclipses, they say this. And this is a prevalent teaching today, that the issue really isn't about no man knowing the day or the time, it's really about time zones. That's the teaching. Because we can't know the day or the time because on one coast it's 4 p.m., on the other coast it's 1 a.m. So we can't really know the time. So we're led to believe that the next prediction by some of these supposed apostles and prophets will be right, and they won't be contradicting the word of God because it's just about time zones. And it's actually a different day on the other side of the world. It's Monday already, so that's what that means, is what they tell us. Uh, and you'll notice that these prognosticators, uh the rapture is presented in some kind of fear, some kind of fearful episode that, whoa, oh, we're in trouble now. Here, here he comes. It's a misrepresentation, a misinterpretation of Matthew 24, because most people will tell you that that's the rapture. It's not. It's not at all. Uh and it's you all know the scripture, two in the field, one taken. One left. Husband and wife in bed together. One will be taken. One left. Left behind. Left behind. My, what what fear and horror that that brings to your mind. And then if you listen to some prophets, they actually tell you that you take the two in the field, you add it to the one in the bed, it's the number of people in the garden, and then you add a serpent, and it's the number of the Trinity, that equals three, please. A trumpet blast, planes crashing, loved ones weeping, horrible crashes, disasters, explosions, fear and trembling. So the majority of Christianity lives today dreading his coming, dreading his return, living in fear, praying there is no trumpet blast, no final chime, no last call. That's not what this morning's message is all about. Our message today is what does the rapture mean to those who love his appearing? To those who love his appearing. To fully understand that, we have to revisit just quickly the ascension, Acts. Acts 1. Oh, the word of God does such an amazing job of spelling all this out if we'll just let the Holy Spirit guide us. 1 and 4. And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith he, Ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked him, saying, Lord, what will this time will thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the time or the seasons which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you, ye shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem and in all of Judea and in Samaria Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth, to skip up to eleven. Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, who why standest ye, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven. Jesus, just the scene, Jesus is gathering his followers to witness his ascension. And while he only called 120, some four, five hundred or some estimates actually show up to the mind of Bolabet. They come to see what would happen. What's going on? And Jesus tries to explain to them what was happening: that he was leaving this planet, he was going to the Father, and they wouldn't see him again in this earthly life. But human minds couldn't comprehend it. The disciples couldn't get it. They couldn't understand what he was saying. Was he gonna die on this mountain? That's what probably some of the thoughts were. Would he just disappear? Would he vaporize? Would angels come to get him? Would an Elijah chariot of fire come to receive him? They didn't understand. And Jesus gathered his followers for his departure from this world in the exact same way that he's gathering his disciples for his return. Same way. Some won't get it, some don't understand, and the same question is being asked. Are we understanding this? Are we getting what's happening? Jesus said, I'm going away. If you love me, you'll rejoice. I'm going away. Don't worry, I'll be back. And if you love me, you'll rejoice. He's even now gathering his people, who he commands, you and I, to rejoice. Rejoice. And he's coming again just like he left. Just like he left. Gathering followers worldwide in Springdale, in New Kensington, in Ukraine, in Israel, in Russia. He's coming back.

In small churches, in denominational churches, in homes, in fellowships, in studies. Just what is it that's happening? What's happening? I look, I know y'all sense it. I know y'all feel it. But exactly what's happening? Here's the answer. Christians everywhere are responding to the Holy Spirit's call to come up hither. To come up hither. Responding to the midnight cry. Christians that have heard the trumpet. Come on, Pastor, you're getting spooky-booky on me. You know the churches are closing. You know that church congregations are getting smaller, that they're losing membership. That's so. But the Bible says there's coming together at the same time as that falling away, a gathering together. A gathering together of what we call the remnant. The remnant. God always has a remnant. Through the worst of times in biblical accounts, God always has a remnant. Christians that are ready to meet the bridegroom, despite what they've heard about the calamity or the judgment or what we're learning in the book of Revelation, even now, so frightening that hearts will fail. But the command is rejoice. Rejoice, not to fear, but rejoice. The powers of heaven and earth will be shaken. And as we can, and as we see these things come to pass, as we see the things that are changing where we live now, what we see now, he said, look up. Look up, lift up your eyes, stand up, your redemption draweth nigh. Rejoice. Rejoice. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. If I had, if I had a screen and an overhead and a little PowerPoint message, this would be it. The same Jesus, why we went back and visited in the book of Acts, his ascension. The same Jesus that was translated, transported, transfigured from the Mount of Olives in full view of his followers, and to a substantial portion of the general public shall return, as promised, to the same place in the same manner. Why is that a PowerPoint? Because flesh and blood, Jesus was flesh and blood. Mary, his mother, was flesh and blood. She gave birth to flesh and blood. This is this is flesh and blood was spiked to a cross. Flesh with very little blood left was entombed in a borrowed tomb. Flesh and blood rose again. Glory, glory. Thomas put his hand in flesh and blood. Flesh and blood ascended to the Father in heaven. Jesus didn't vaporize, he didn't disappear. Flesh and blood was lifted into heaven. On a cloud, out of sight. Out of sight. What a sight that must have been. What a vision to see Jesus lifted up through the clouds, through the dew, you couldn't see him anymore. A glorified human body, brand new, no aches, no pains, no limitations, lifted up and resurrect in resurrection power, radiating light. Hallelujah. Garments in dazzling white, unfurled in the breeze, face upturned, looking toward heaven, eyes fixed on him. But just a moment, just a moment, he was gone. He was gone. Now we have it called out. First Thessalonians four and thirteen. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with a voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words. The redeemed of the Lord will see him. The unredeemed will explain it away. It's an anomaly, it's uh a UFO. It's only a weather balloon. Uh but his coming will be revealed to the bride. It will be revealed to the bride. Uh here's the way I picture it, and I have a very simple mind. So this helps me. I believe it will be like hearing the distant bells of the ice cream truck. You all remember that? My dad didn't hear him. Well, at least he said he didn't. My mother didn't hear him. She only heard me asking for my don. But I heard them. And so did every kid in my neighborhood. They all heard the bells. I'm hearing them now. I'm hearing them now. The bells are sounding, the winds are blowing, there's a going and a shaking in the mulberry tree. But first, first, first, first, before we get to that bell, amen. First the trumpet. First the trumpet. The last call. A Christian awakening. A Christian awakening. If it if that trumpet hasn't already sounded, it's about to. The voice of my beloved. I think the trumpet's already sounded. I think it's already gone off. You and I will sense his coming. You know that he's coming. The bride hears the groom coming. You all know, some of you know the story of ancient Israel about a wedding and how the bridegroom would from a mile away, a mile away, they would announce his coming to pick up the bride. That the bridegroom cometh. He's still a mile away. He's not even close to the yard. And look, on one hand, secrecy. Don't know when it's gonna happen. Don't know when he's coming. As to the bride, and and the groom would appear. But there was a great announcement. It would be a surprise when he came, but the announcement came a mile away while he was still coming. And the call went up, the call went up, the bridegroom cometh, the bridegroom cometh, and he will come quickly, and you and I will be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye. The Greek word for air, our word A-I-R, rise up to meet him in the air. The Greek word is A-E-R, and it's not unlimited atmosphere, it's a layer of atmosphere within one mile of the earth. Jesus will descend to within one mile of this earth. That means lower than some of the planes you see that travel overhead. One mile, five thousand feet. That's all. Five thousand feet. And we, the remnant, his bride, will rise up to meet him in the air. But here's what I want to look at, Paula. Here's what I want to look at. What will it be like? What's it like? Not then. That's that's all whoa. What's it gonna be like a couple of months before he comes? What's it gonna be like weeks before he comes? What will it be like moments before he appears? Now we sense his presence, right? In what seems to me an ever increasing worshi an ever increasing measure, in whether it's in worship, in our word, in our studies. And I don't know about you, but sometimes his presence is so strong, sometimes it's so strong it's as if he's on the platform with us. That he's here, that he's in the pews, amen. In the car on the way to church. Sometimes his glory is so strong, I have to shout, I can't stand. Sometimes you gotta whistle. His presence is just so strong. So what will it be like when his physical appearance draws so near? And as that presence intensifies day by day, and it draws closer and nearer. As the day draws closer, I believe we'll say, uh, look, I can't, I can't miss church. I can't. Yeah, I'd like to I'd like to stay where it's warm. I can't miss church. It may be today. Encouraging one another with like-minded anticipation. Maranatha, our Lord come. Amen. Can't miss church, don't want to miss church. Not so worried about church business, uh more importantly, standing steadfast and strong, preaching the kingdom of God. More concerned with kingdom business than church business. Uh looking for and awaiting our king, looking for a city not made with hands that's soon to come. Glory. And when he appears, when he appears, we shall see him as he is. Lots of depictions. Lucy's beautiful painting of Jesus over there, lots of depictions of what he looks like. But then we'll see him as he is. Amen. Then you'll know. Then you'll know. And when you and I who make up the church, the bride, uh, and don't be thrown by that a lot of us guys when I we first came into church and they told us I was the bride, it's like, whoa. The bride should know no fear. The bride should know no fear. While we don't know the exact time, it will not be a surprise. It will not. The day will not overtake those who are ever ready. It won't, oh, I didn't think it would be today. We'll be called you know why? You know why, Donna? Because we'll be expecting him. We're expecting him. The mantra we hear so many times is to occupy until he comes. It's from Luke 19. And look, I understand that, the meaning that this world isn't our home, but it seems it's interpreted as hunker down, stay inside, don't just stay calm, uh, sit idly by, passing the time. He's coming. But it's not, it's getting ready, it's being ever ready, it's preparing for the bridegroom, it's unwrapping our lives from self-ambition and worldly dreams and leaving the worries of this world behind. Glory. To those that look for him shall he appear the second time unto salvation without sin. But this time not to atone for sin that's been done, but to triumph over it. Glory. He will not be mocked, he will not be ridiculed, cursed, or crucified. This time he will not come as a lamb led to slaughter or a sheep to a shearer. Glory. Jesus is coming back as the commander-in-chief of the Revelation Army in full battle gear, garments dazzling white, gleaming sword, a stride, a great white stallion, leader of leader, general of generals, king of kings, and lord of lords. Glory. His vestures dipped in blood, the same Jesus who left this planet quietly so many years ago in front of a in front of a crowd no bigger than a little league game. My. But he'll return with a shout, in full view of every believer that knows him as Lord. Not quietly, not in secret, for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, the voice of the archangel and the trumpet of God, the dead in Christ, will rise first. We which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Every blood-bought believer, and that shout, that shout will at least be heard by every believer. The bridegroom comes. The bridegroom comes. Glory. Every blood-bought believer from every time, every age, the saints of old, uh, apostles, your grandmother, your grandfather, your mother, your husband, your wife, your son, or your daughter. Glory is gonna rise. Gonna rise. We'll hear the trumpet, hear, see the host of angels, hear the cry of the archangel, the bridegroom comes. Everyone will hear, the son of man, the triumphant one, the deliverer, our savior, our king, our kinsman, redeemer, the champion of champions is returning. He is Alpha and Omega, he is beginning and end. The bridegroom comes. The bridegroom comes. I listened to a study on on the rapture, and the I won't mention his name, but the preacher said that the rapture would be a quiet and private event, uh a personal event, uh personal to each one of us. And let's think about that in closing. The dead in Christ will rise first. I don't know. Private, quiet, uh in cemeteries the world over, coffins being pushed to the surface, caskets opening, urns popping their lids, mausoleums crumbling. Quiet? I don't know. And the thunderous ovation of all the corpses, all these risen corpses, as they get their glorified bodies on the way. My rising to meet the bridegroom, each one being able to see again, each one breathing again, uh receiving their glorified body. Everybody getting their shout back. Everyone who lost their shout, they're getting their shout back. And then we which are alive and remain, I pray to God it's me. I pray to God I'm alive to see this. Uh caught up together with them in the clouds. Uh like I think of Stephen when he was stoned. And what how amazing that must have been being applauded by those already risen, the risen dead, being applauded for those who are alive. How quiet are you gonna be? How quiet can it be? And this all happens less than 5,000 feet above this planet. Uh angels being sent to every corner, being summoned to go to each and every corner, so that not one child is left behind. No one's missing in this number. And as every convoy goes out, every wave of angelic, the cheer goes out, the bridegroom comes. The bridegroom comes. Do you know that his desire, Jesus' desire, is to be with you? Look it up, it's in John 17, I believe. His desire is to be with you. He says, I will, I will, meaning he wills that those you have given me be with me. I will that. He wills that those that God has given to him be with him. When we can't help but think of the song, when we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus. So where is heaven? I don't know. I don't know. Perry Stone might know. I don't know. Wherever the bridegroom is, that's heaven. Wherever he is, that that will be heaven. And so shall we ever be with the Lord. Don't worry about dates, books, blood moons, uh, videos, teachings, prophetic utterances. Look at every moment and listen to every moment. Leave the time to the Father. You'll know. You'll know. And live like every day he's coming in an hour. Uh until that time. Let's be about building the wall of Zion. Amen. Building our number. Thank you so much for listening.

In John chapter 14, Jesus says, I will pray the Father, and he will give you another helper that he may abide with you forever. The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him, but you know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. By welcoming the Holy Spirit into our lives, we allow him to mold us, to guide us, and fill us with his presence. Welcome, Holy Spirit.

All my life you have been faithful. All my life you have been so so good. With every breath that I am faithful, oh I will sing of the goodness of God. Let's sing it again. All my life you have been faithful. All my life you have been so so good. With every breath that I am failed, oh, I will say of the goodness of God. Hallelujah, Jesus. I love you, Lord, because your mercy never fails me. All my days I've been held in your hands, from the moment that I wake up until I lay my head. I will say of the goodness of God. All my life you have been faithful, yes, Lord. All my life you have been so so good, with every breath that I am faithful. Oh, I will say of the goodness of God. Sing it again. All my life you have been faithful. Yes, Lord. All my life you have been so slow with every breath that I am faithful. Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God. Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
