Judy's Song (Part Two)
What if the ground beneath modern church life isn’t as solid as it seems? We open Judy’s Bible, follow her story from hesitant listener to hungry worshiper, and trace a straight line to Haggai’s warning and promise: God will shake what can be shaken so his glory can fill the house. That’s not a scare tactic—it’s an invitation to trade spectacle for substance, cliché for conviction, and programs for presence.
We talk frankly about the spiritual leanness that comes from entertainment-driven ministry and the quiet exodus of believers searching for reality over religious routine. You’ll hear why Romans 1 confronts our tendency to magnify material gain and minimize spiritual maturity, and how 1 Corinthians 3 reframes success as work that endures fire. Along the way, we unpack what a pastor is actually called to do—study, hear from God, and equip saints—not to meddle, perform, or chase applause. Expect straight talk, not outrage; conviction, not condemnation.
From end-times urgency to everyday choices, we lay out a path toward a heavenly vision: become Holy Spirit infused, awake from sleep, and clothed in the armor of light. We make the case for gathering as a place of healing, deliverance, and high praise that forms hearts built to endure shaking. Judy’s “come up front” moment anchors the message with hope—God sees faithfulness and draws us near. If you’ve felt the ache for more than worship-tainment and busy calendars, this conversation meets you with clarity and courage.
If this spoke to you, share it with a friend, leave a review to help others find the show, and subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next. What’s one shallow habit you’re ready to lay down for something eternal?
Hello, welcome to Valley Gospel Church. We are a non-denominational Pentecostal church located in Springdale, Pennsylvania. Our sole mission is to present the living truth of a risen Lord Jesus Christ to a remnant church and a lost world. So let's go into the service recorded live at Valley Gospel Church.
SPEAKER_00:As I mentioned earlier, uh Judy remarked about this message today, and it's not a sissy, fluffy, light love you, love me message. It's called the final shaking, that's what it was called. So I bring it in honor of Judy, and I ask the Lord to give me with a couple of tweaks. I asked the Lord to give me the words and the anointing to bring what he would have brought. Look, I'm not a funeral director or someone with the Rolodex of funeral messages. I'm simply a man of God with a message from the throne. Amen. As I looked at my notes regarding this message, I couldn't believe it's truly Judy's message. It's hers. How she came to us. It is Judy's song. And I mentioned if you look for it on our podcast, that's what it'll be entitled, Judy's Song. When I first met Judy many years ago, I was visiting my sister Emily. Emily was my mentor. I don't call anybody a mentor. Emily was my mentor. This is her Bible. I still pages are falling out, Jenny, everywhere. I keep taping them back in because, and here's what I found out about in this Bible. Emily underlined every scripture that I'm going to use today. That's why I asked you, please, if you don't have to leave, please stay. When I first met Judy, Emily and I were in the kitchen, we were talking about spiritual things, and Judy came in. And she was less than interested in what we were talking about. All right. She met me high. Move, let's get out of this. She was very kind and cordial, but not into the spiritual conversation that was going on. And she excused herself very quickly. Emily told me right after she left, she reached across the table and put her hand on mine and said, Honey, we need to pray for her. She needs more of Jesus. And that's exactly what Judy got: more of Jesus. Hallelujah. I believe that God is doing something profound and powerful in this day. A people that are dissatisfied with the status quo, that are growing more and more dissatisfied with fleshly worldly systems of activity that exist in today's church. These God-hungry people are saying among themselves, these desperate people, this is not what it's about. There has to be more. The bigness, the sensational worldliness of the church has left them empty and dry. Children of God, true children of God, want more. More than worship tainment, more than big and showy and multi-purpose buildings, more than positive affirmations or cliche quotes, more than a shallow celebrity gospel. Chrissy, let's go to work. We want deeper revelation. We want deeper understanding. And we want worship that touches the throne. That causes God to move. A message that addresses the times in which we live, here and now. We want spotless robes of righteousness. We want to see Jesus and experience his limitless mercy and grace. You know, I see it everywhere I go. Disillusioned Christians searching for reality instead of religion. Churches that have left the truth of God for a lie. But God's people are returning. They're returning to fasting, to prayer, to individual worship, to corporate high praise. Hallelujah. I think we experienced just a touch of that this morning of the corporate high praise. These people are not only weeping when they come to the altar, they're weeping on the porch, they're weeping in the parking lot, in the car. Hallelujah, wanting more of Jesus. They're demanding more depth, more revelation from the pulpit. And if their pastor moves in a self-centered, egocentric, people-pleasing direction, they're looking for someplace else. Some place else where the word is preached, where Jesus is glorified and the Holy Ghost is welcome.
SPEAKER_01:Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_00:Glory. They're looking to have their deep spiritual needs met. So if you have your Bibles, turn with Chrissy, please. Two readings. One from Hagai, Hagai 2. Amen. As soon as you get back into the Old Testament, we don't visit Hagai a lot. As soon as you get into the Old Testament, it's just Malachi and Zechariah and Hagai going backwards. Hagai 2 and 6 and 7. Whenever you get there, I'll ask you to please stand for the reading of God's word.
SPEAKER_01:For thus saith the Lord of hosts, yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land, and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come. And I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.
SPEAKER_00:Amen. Now if you'll just flip forward to Romans, Romans 1 and 25.
SPEAKER_01:Who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator who is blessed forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_00:How much of today's teaching, today's revelation, today's preaching will stand up before the judgment seat of Christ. There's a growing knowledge that God has placed in me, that most of the modern teachings in the church today will be consumed by the flaming eyes of Jesus. I'll use for a subject. As I said, it was the final shaking. It is now Judy's song. Amen. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you, Lord. Thank you for this opportunity, this privilege, Lord, of not only sharing Judy today and sharing her music and sharing her word, Lord, we thank you that through this we might see truth and we might see reality. It is in the name of your precious, August, Almighty, all-powerful, soon coming Son, we pray. Amen and amen. Please be seated. If you examine today's religious system, especially the local denominational churches, some, if not most, have gotten off the track of true spirituality. The spiritual leanness of so many Christians and so many churches is a direct result of trying to preach this gospel in the flesh. Either trying to do kingdom work in our own power or simply focusing on church work. Good works. What are you talking about, Pastor? Let me explain. If you ask most churchgoers today what's happening in your church, more often than not you'll hear about a play, a concert, a seminar, a bakesale festival, cleaning up somebody's yard, how they bought a Harley for the pastor, just saying. How they handed out water it with Rachel Carson walk. Or what the building project is, what the board is considering. And look, nothing wrong with those things except for the Harley. That's very wrong. But rarely will you hear about people being saved, people being baptized in the Holy Ghost, or what the Lord is doing among the saints. Or any regard to sanctification, the studies, the prayer, the message, the healing, the deliverance, and shame on us. Shame on us, and by us I mean the pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets, apostles. Shame on us that we're substituting earthly or temporary values for eternal ones. Shame on us. We've been specializing, pastors have, in telling the people how much God owes us, what our Christian rights are, our prosperity, doing the next good thing. And spiritual blessings are minimized, and material blessings are magnified. And we look to church leaders to fill the void. We look to those pastors, those leaders to fill that void in our lives. And let's be honest, only the Holy Spirit can fill that void. Only He. Look, I pray that you think I'm doing what God's called me to do and I'm doing a good job in the church, but I cannot assume I cannot perform the work of Jesus. Nor can I be what the Holy Spirit wants to do in you. I can't do that. My job description as pastor is primarily study, put myself in a position to hear from God in order to present what he wants, when he wants, and how he wants it. In order to lift up, to encourage and equip the saints. For every spiritual battle that we will face, and we will face many in the not too distant future. Amen? And also how to deal with any emotional, physical, or any issue that we face in our lives, how we deal with it. You know, when Jenny sent me that text and said how sweet Judy's passing was, that's what it that's what it is. That's how that's how a saint leaves. You won't. Amen. Nor will I portray myself as an example of prosperity or health or supposed righteous living or possessions and say, look at me, you can have what I have because of the Ah heck. Let me open up the gate. I will not meddle in your personal affairs, be they relational or marital, moral, unless you specifically ask me. And look, don't ask me something hoping I'll give you the answer you want. Because chances are that isn't going to happen. A young man called me one time. We were in Harmerville, and it was about 11 p.m. at night. He was a married man with a child, and they were separated at the time. And he called me, he said, Pastor, I just have this question I need to ask you. You know, we're my wife and I are separated. My old girlfriend stopped by. Is it okay if she spends the night? And I answered on a very high spiritual plane. I said, Are you nuts? Mama. I will not chase after a mature Christian like Marlon Perkins trying to catch a wildebeest so that you don't disappear. I will not take the side in any dispute unless a position is clearly addressed in the Word of God. This is just flooding in my head. A woman came not too long ago, a couple months ago, and she came after Sunday service, and she brought her grown son in his 20s, said he was gonna marry uh he was gonna marry an older woman who was her words a bit of a tart. I'm not sure what a tart is, but I I kind of assumed what he she was getting at. And she's pastor, I need you to come out in the parking lot. He won't he's out in the car, he won't get out of the car, but I need you to come out and lay hands on him so he doesn't do this. And I said, No, no, I will not. Now, if he wants to bring, I don't know anything about this situation, none at all. Mother doesn't, that's pretty often, you know. Mother doesn't want her son to marry someone, but and she hasn't been back to church since, obviously offended. And maybe you're thinking, isn't that a pastor's job to get in our business, uh, tell us how to live? That's my point. We've redefined or misinterpreted, we've convoluted what a pastor's job is. It's not to be uh a man friend or a guy pal or pull you close and tell you a little bit of a dirty joke. Uh don't misunderstand. I would desire to be friends with with everyone here, but that's not the job that God has called me to. He's called me to study, to show myself approved, a workman who needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Hallelujah. To preach the word, to be in season and out of season. Glory, to humble myself and hear from heaven, and deliver unto the saints that which was delivered unto them by the apostles the truth, and to defend and protect unto death that which I have been given responsibility for, Jenny, this pearl of great price. First Corinthians three and eleven. For other foundations can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now, if any man build upon the this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, every man's work shall be made manifest, for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a word. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire. I wonder how many pastors and teachers will be able to stand and look into those piercing brown eyes of flame. I wonder. No self-centered will, no ego, no desire to be popular will be able to stand the gaze of the revelation Christ. No self-appointed guru, no Christian mentor, no spiritual covering. And look, if we live for the compliment, we're gonna die by the criticism. If we want people to think well of us, the Lord told us, be wary when everybody speaks well of you. And what good is it of everything that we do if our values aren't eternal? That someone may like you in this life or someone may give more or contribute, or what good is it if they're not eternal? The end of all things is near. I believe that with all of my heart. And if we truly believe that, what will it take for the church to stop its drift into the social, woke, political, correct gospel club? What will it take? I think we've felt some of those ramifications with the happenings over the recent months. Uh but the blessing is not in buildings. It's not in programs, organizations, or this treadmill of busyness that we find ourselves in, or this apostolic fake authority that has suddenly generated from within the Pentecostal church? So, what is going to happen when God begins to shake everything that can be shaken in heaven and earth? What happens? What's going to happen when all false values and earthly ideals fall, when man-made religions lose their meaning? What'll happen? What'll happen to the happy-go-lucky megachurch that begins to fail, going deeper and farther to keep their congregation coming and giving and tithing? What'll happen? Sadly, many of God's children will end up bewildered and confused. And this world will move into a time of economic collapse when persecution and chaos falls even on the so-called civilized nations, when even the most powerful and influential among us are teetering on the brink of total collapse. How many Christians will survive that test? How many? A lot of God's children are going to wonder where they are, what's happening, what do we do now? Ministers that are caught up in the busyness and human ideals, the vision, will leave their ministry confused because all the hard work that they put into building and growing and ordering was to no avail. Multitudes of Christians will be asking, what's it all about? What's happening? Where's the future? Who can tell us what God's doing? What's happening at this place and time? Look, I'm sure most of you in here this morning agree with me that we are moving swiftly into what the Bible calls the end times, the last days. God's people need to be in possession of a heavenly vision. A heavenly vision. Testing time has come, and it's come with lightning speed, and it's gonna take more than prosperity teachings or programs or activities or Christian social clubs to see us through. We're gonna have to really know the Lord in all his fullness. We need our eyes focused on eternal values, possessed, possessed by the Holy Spirit. That's where we need to be, because only spiritual things are gonna remain. That's all that's gonna stand up. Only the spiritual, only spiritually connected people are going to understand what's going on and not faint or not stagger or not give in and say, okay, we'll do whatever you like. We'll do what you told us. Uh and the only way to be there is to possess the mind of Christ. How do we do that? We do that linked through the Holy Ghost. That's how we do that. Only then will we not be thrown by the change that's coming and is already here. Uh we have to be at a place, listen carefully. We have to be at a place where we have nothing to lose. I know we can't fathom that. We can't understand that. We need to be able to walk away from all the junk in our lives. Well, you don't understand, Pastor. I've got this wonderful job, I've got this, I've got this high-paying, I've got this business that's growing and flourishing, I've got these investments, family, friends. You're gonna lose it all anyway. It's all going away anyhow. What what are you holding on to? We must be Holy Spirit infused. Romans thirteen. Romans thirteen and eleven. And that, knowing the time that now it is high time to awake out of sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand, let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
unknown:Wow.
SPEAKER_00:Wow. And and again, Janet underlined in your mother's Bible. You will know when the Holy Spirit is calling you out of a shallow Christianity. You'll know with certainty. You'll know that he's calling you in a supernatural way. Uh you'll know when he's lifting you out of the ordinary. You know how? He'll stir your nest the importance, the actual necessity of church attendance, worship in community, uh, sitting together. And this week I was asked, well, I was told actually, that church attendance is optional, and that it's really not that important because it's me and Jesus, Jesus and me, and uh it's not that important to our Christian walk. And they went on to tell me, well, they understood about the pastor, that's your that's your livelihood, that's how you make a living. Uh, and I know you all know, but I serve as well as every singer, every musician, every uh security guard, every sound person, we serve at the pleasure of our Lord. There is no financial uh, there is no financial payment for any of us. Every dime is for ministry and upkeep. And if it wasn't important, why does Hebrews 10 and Acts 2 and 1 Timothy 2 and 2 Peter and Philippians and 1 John all tell us how important it is to be in the house of God? The Bible says it's important that we know the scripture. God is a God of the people, and he's a God of places. It's two things he's a God of. He's a God of the people, he's a God of places. And look, I'm not browbeating, but whatever keeps you from gathering in your church, this church, it just isn't worth it. Just isn't worth it. Uh but maybe a more revealing understanding, especially if if we're seeking the Lord for something, a healing, a manifestation. Uh, you know, we hear that all the time. I need a healing. Yeah. And I understand God can heal you wherever you are. But wouldn't it be better? Wouldn't it make more sense that you were in the house of God? Sometimes it's better to be at Shiloh, huh? Even though you can't, even though it's not really happening at Beth-Aven or Bethel, sometimes it's better to get to Shiloh, because that's where the Lord's moving. Reaching for the purpose, the power, the presence of God. This house, any true house of God, is a place of healing, deliverance, miracles, and blessing. Amen. The very presence of the king. But maybe, maybe he's seen our commitment. Maybe he's seen our exuberance, our excitement about being in God's house, our need to be here. And the king says to us, you, come up front. That's exactly what Judy heard on Thursday. You come up front. Thank you so much for listening.

SPEAKER_02:Hallelujah to the Lamb. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. Be thankful to him and bless his holy name. Oh come on, church, let's sing it again. I have come to receive. I have come to receive. I have come to receive of the Lord. Hallelujah. And it feels so good. Just like I knew it would. The more I trust him, the more I love him. Nothing good for me here tonight. The longer I know him, the better I control him. I couldn't stop now if I tried. Oh, it gets sweeter as the days go by. Oh, it gets sweeter as the moments fly. Oh, his love is richer. It's deeper. It's fuller. So much sweeter. Sweeter. Sweeter. Sweeter as the days go by. The moment he saved me, his good grace he gave me. He placed his love down deep in my heart. It's great joy and knowing with him I am going and never fought from him to depart. Oh, it gets sweeter as the days go by. It gets sweeter as the moments fly. Oh, his love is richer. It's deeper. It's fuller. So much sweeter. Sweeter, sweeter, sweeter as the days go by. I have come to receive. I have come to receive. I have come to receive of the Lord. And it feels so good. Just like I knew it would. I have come to receive of the Lord. Oh well, Jesus. He is the way maker, Jesus. He is the way maker, Jesus. He is the way maker. One day He made a way for me. Oh whoa! Oh when my life was so dark and dreary. My Jesus heard and he answered my prayer. One day, he made a way for me. Whoa, whoa, Jesus. He is the way maker, Jesus. He is the way maker, Jesus. He is the way maker. One day He made a way for me. When my life was so dark and trippy. My Jesus heard and he answered my prayers. One day, anyway, he made a way for me. Woe it gets sweeter as the days go by. Oh it gets sweeter as the moments fly. Oh his love is richer. Richer, it's deeper, deeper, fuller. So much sweeter, sweeter, sweeter, sweeter as the days go by. I have come to receive. I have come to receive. I have come to receive of the Lord and it feels so good. Just like I knew it would. I have come to receive. I have come to receive. I have come to receive of the law. Hallelujah. And it feels so good. Just like I knew it would. I have come to receive of the law.
