Judy's Song (Part One)
Grief doesn’t get the final word when a life sings like Judy’s. We gather as a church family to honor a woman who turned ordinary days into ministry—through warm meals, quick prayers, and an open door that made strangers feel like kin. The service starts in full voice, lifting songs that declare Jesus as Lord over everything, and that shared worship becomes the ground where memory and hope can stand together.
Across heartfelt testimonies, a picture forms. Friends smile through tears as they tell of Judy’s fearless humor, her elegant thrift-store finds, and her relentless care for others even when breath was hard to find. We hear about roof repairs that arrived like a miracle after prayer, eBay listings that paid bills and blessed neighbors, and a final passing that answered a year of whispered fears with peace. A son speaks plainly about trauma, reconciliation, and calling—how daily scripture and prayer turned pain into purpose, and how courage is often choosing to forgive, to wait on God, or to fight when He says move.
This tribute is more than remembrance; it’s a blueprint for living. We lean into themes of forgiveness, hospitality, and steadfast praise, learning to return evil with good and to become the kind of people who pick up the phone, show up with food, and keep singing when the night is long. If legacy is a pattern repeated in love, Judy left us a clear one: see value where others miss it, bless first, and let worship lead the way. Listen to be lifted, to smile, and to take one simple step toward someone who needs you today.
If this story moved you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review to help others find this conversation. Your voice helps us keep telling stories that turn grief into grace.
Hello, welcome to Valley Gospel Church. We are a non-denominational Pentecostal church located in Springdale, Pennsylvania. Our sole mission is to present the living truth of a risen Lord, Jesus Christ, to a remnant church and a lost world. So let's go into the service recorded live at Valley Gospel Church. Good morning.
SPEAKER_11:This morning our service is dedicated in honor to our beloved sister Judy. In fact, if you're looking for this message online or on the podcast, it will be entitled Judy's Song. Judy was an encourager, a prayer warrior, a sound engineer. Alright, I'm exaggerating about the sound engine. The music today is Judy's favorite, and I'll explain that in a minute. But some time ago, Judy texted me after a message, and she said that it really touched her, and it and it was her song. The message was.

SPEAKER_09:Hello, it be like Oh, you are low, you are life, you are Lord over everything.
SPEAKER_07:Alpha Omega Joba. The King of Kings, wonderful way, make the worthy of my offering.
SPEAKER_09:Hello with the day. Yes, Lord, we glorify your name, Jesus. There's nowhere else we'd rather be alone. Stop, God Almighty, let me tell you the news. I had been a wet with the midnight news. I've been down on my bended knees. I'm talking to the man from a gallery. My God spoke and he spoke so sweet. I thought I heard the shop of angel's feet. He put the one hand up on my head. Let's sing it again. Oh well, glory, glory. Oh oh yeah. Hallelujah. Oh, since I laid I laid my burdens down.
SPEAKER_08:Well glory, glory.
SPEAKER_09:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_11:Anybody else, everybody sister.
SPEAKER_05:We grew up together here in the same room. We grew older. We got closer and closer. And she actually treated my children like they're her children. And it's a wonder, it's just a pleasant thing. When I was a teenager, I loved. And Judy helped me. I packed up my clothes in a big box. And while I was distracting my parents, Judy brought it to the basement. It was in the winter. She put it on a sled, dragged it up into the hill, and put it in my boyfriend's car, and we left. Of course, you know, getting married as a teenager like that, everybody's like, this ain't gonna last at all. We were married 64 years. With your permission, brother. I have had an experience with the Lord. I know he did something. But I know God did something.
SPEAKER_11:And we may we may not know that until we get to glory. So many things you know you don't need to know now.
SPEAKER_04:I'll show you later. Well, first of all, she loved every one of you. Bad And I would, you know, we got to spend a lot of time together in the end, and uh she was sitting struggling for air. And so we started having the deep conversation. And she said, Jenny, I forgave I forgave Lois. I forgave Daryl Joe. Oh yeah, and you'll ovish. And she said, everything is good. They're just like me. Whatever they did, they were just trying to make a living. She said, I'm ready to go. And you know what? I want to go now. Now! Where is my morphine? I'm like, Judy, they're coming. And she's like, and she just struggled for air, struggled for air. But when the morphine came, she was so happy because she was afraid, and I was afraid for the last maybe year. What's it gonna look like? I know she was gonna go. I could see it every every time I was with her, a little bit less, a little bit less, a little bit less, and I'm thinking what is this? Am I gonna find her in here when I can? And she would pray, Lord, don't let me joke to death because she couldn't breathe. And when I walked in there Wednesday, she said genuinely feel like somebody's strangling me. And so the death was so beautiful. I'll tell you how it happened. I'm sitting there, she has a girl that comes in every Thursday. Her name is Ashley. She's government provided with they are like this. Judy became like her grandma. So Ashley came in and she went over to Judy and they were talking. And she said to Judy, I'm gonna change your nightgown and then I'm gonna wash you up. Judy says, Okay. So she changed her nightgown. And then Gary had run out to get some food for breakfast. So Ashley sat down to talk to me for a few minutes, and I saw Gary come to the door. So I got up to go to the door to let him in because his hands were full. And Ashley said something. I'm deaf. So I'm like, so I let Gary and I said, What did you say, Ashley? She said, Jenny, she's gone. I said, Ashley. She said I said, Are you sure? She said she's gone. And just like I mean, that was her prayer. That was my prayer. I was like, first of all, I wasn't alone.
SPEAKER_14:What we are, we're a team. We pick each other up and that. And she was always saying, Thank you, Donna. Thank you, Donna. But on another note, that's sort of humorous, was for two years I went on estate sales with her, and she taught me a lot. And when she couldn't make it up the steps, I'd run up the steps, and I knew what she was looking for. So I'd run them back downstairs, and she would say, Okay, Donna, thank you, you know, and run it back upstairs, the stuff she didn't want. But her driving is another thing. We'd go through and she'd be driving, and I'd be thinking, like, okay, my foot's on the brake, but it wasn't because she was doing the driving. And I'd say, Judy, you just went through a stop sign. She goes, Oh, that's okay. And then another time we went, and I'm like, Oh my god, Judy, you ran through a red light. She goes, That light was too long, anyways. So we just had some good times, and those are the things that I'm gonna remember about her because she was just a joy to get to know, and and uh when you get to know her personally, she was just that little stinker, and uh and um and she just taught me a lot, and she would be by all of us, she would be deeply missed, but I know she's rejoicing in heaven with the Lord, and that's what keeps us going.
SPEAKER_11:Amen. Dancing with the Lord, right?
SPEAKER_01:Um my name is Lance. I'm Zach's friend, and um Zach and I have been hanging out for the pro probably the past, well, we grew up little league football together, and uh but uh we didn't start hanging out, I guess, until after I came home from the military. And it's been about 40 years, 45 years or so. And um I remember going when Grandma Bazzanati was still alive and uh the Pizzells. If you've never had any of the cooking, oh my goodness, and I I I know she was probably sick, like if that kid comes around and eats another one of my pizzells, but that was one of the things that I I loved about her cooking, and and when you came to the house, you you always you always were welcomed and and and fed, and kind of similar to the story that uh I know you say my parents you know uh that when you if if you ever visited you were made to feel at home, you were fed, and uh if you didn't have the Pazelles, you'll y'all missed out on it. But I I had I have my share, I probably had some of y'all share too, but uh I don't doubt I'll still be missing. That's one of the uh fond memories I have of it. Amen. Thank you, brother.
SPEAKER_12:Thank you, Pastor. Well, um wow, God is good all the time.
SPEAKER_11:Amen.
SPEAKER_12:He is, and um, you know, part of my little like the little wants to flinch a little bit and you know but um God is worthy of praise, he's worthy of the sacrifice of praise. He's worthy all the time, and Jamie, yes, he is good all the time. He's good, and it was good for me that I was afflicted by the Lord. He does beautiful things in our lives with less to reveal that it's him. And so we can rejoice in times of transition, tough times, because we know just like the faithfulness of Eunice and Lois, right? That same spirit is in me. And honestly, I'm very blessed. My mother loved y'all, and and and she brought me here, and I was like, this is a good, it grew on me, and I'm like, I'm so glad to be here, and I love each of you, and and um this man, his family fed me when I was hungry, my aunts, matriarchs for years. I've had the the privilege of the foundation of Christ and godly women, too many men. But we had Uncle Gare hanging in. He held it down. Gary, good to see you too, man. Um and and so we were we were searching for um mentors, and and Uncle Job, we suffered a lot of trauma. Me and my mom and sister suffer a lot of trauma, but God somehow has given us the spirit of reconciliation, and we are here as ambassadors of Christ that He is enough, that there's nothing that we cannot get past. And my mom would be honored to hear that that's what we do, that's our DNA. Our DNA is to rejoice in suffering, to forgive those, to look past an offense, and to heal, and to make sure that we echo because the kingdom of God is at hand. And the only way we're gonna take over a city is if we allow God to break our inner man and allow him to do a new work in us. Right? It starts with one man at a time. It starts with a phone call with another godly man, godly women. I would call my mom three, four times a day video calls toward the very end. It was all about Jesus. We would pray, share scriptures, and it got sweeter and sweeter and sweeter. I'm gonna need somebody to call. I'm you know what I mean? So you know, any any takers, you know, I love to talk about Jesus, you know, and uh but um yeah. Very, very, very privileged. Now, here's what's happening. Sometimes the Lord will say, Go over and follow them and fight back and take back your territory. Sometimes the Lord will say, Stand and wait, behold and see the mighty hand of God. I will fight for you. This is a time where I feel like the Lord's restoring what the enemy stole. My little sister, we're claiming that. My family, we're claiming that. This is just the beginning. Okay, if a seed falls to the ground and dies, it bears much fruit. If it doesn't, it remains alone. So we have that same model. We have to go low and humble ourselves and dive ourselves and allow Christ to do a great work in us. And if we can learn to rule our own spirit, we can take over dominion and kingdom. So we're gonna ask, just Holy Spirit, in your honor, we welcome you, and I ask that you would do the redemptive work that needs to be done in each of us, that we can have peace in a storm with it, we can rejoice, and that we can be mighty warriors because of Jesus. It's Jesus, it's not a Zach boast. This is if we boast at all that's in you. And we ask that you would, Holy Spirit, just release an anointing on people today, that they would be willing to stand, fight, and be courageous, and love, and be patient, and do all the things that are countercultural in a world that says eye for an eye, that we would be willing to return evil with good, and that you would get your glory in Jesus' name. Amen.
SPEAKER_11:Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_22:Vicky? I just want to say that I only knew Judy a few years, but she made me feel like I knew her a lifetime. That was the way she was. And as sick as she was, she'd call me who want to know how I am. Because I've had a few problems, always concerned about somebody else. She was truly a servant. And I think that Judy's spirit has touched every one of us. She's not a person that she didn't touch. Just by walking in with her shiny shoes and her beautiful jewelry, it she just she just blessed me to where I can't explain it. And the last time I talked to her, oh, I had been there and I the week before, and she she didn't look good. I knew. Because I worked in medical and I know that phase. And I said, Judy, I said, I'm gonna come and stay with you. And she said, Oh, that's okay. I watched Turner Classic movies all night. I said, Well, I'll go get in the bed, and if you need me, you come get me. Or yell. And she said, No. But she said, you can come in the daytime. And I said, Okay. I never got to do that. And I feel bad I never got to do that because I just loved her so much. And she had came to the door the week before that when I came, and she was all dressed up. She said, I've decided I'm going to wear all my clothes I like every day. And she looked beautiful. I see you look beautiful, Judy. But I know that she. When she got there, the Lord said, Well done, good and faithful servant.
SPEAKER_17:Yeah, kinda to Zach and the family, just like your buddy. I just wanted to say that uh, like Jamie said, I'm better for knowing her. And uh I just appreciate everything she done for me, and she opened up her house to me too. And I just want to say that uh even when I came to this church and was broken and wasn't in the best place and all that stuff, she always she would always text me and invite me to anything she was doing at the house, and she always fed me and took care of me and brought me in too. So I just want to say thank you all for that. And I am better for knowing her, and I love her, she's a good woman, so yeah.
SPEAKER_11:Amen. I think that oh, Danny. I'm coming, Danny.
SPEAKER_13:I just want to say before I start crying, I miss her very much. She's a great girl. She got me here to this wonderful place. And I'll miss her. I'll miss him too. He grew up with us. He was part of my family.
SPEAKER_11:He's still here though.
SPEAKER_13:He's my son. Well, he he comes every often. Okay.
SPEAKER_11:Yeah, don't.
SPEAKER_13:But I love him, and he knows it.
SPEAKER_11:And he can We have what we say, you know.
SPEAKER_13:Um missing for words, but I loved her very much. And I won't miss her.
SPEAKER_11:Amen.
SPEAKER_13:God bless her.
SPEAKER_11:Thanks, Denny.
SPEAKER_13:And she's dancing in heaven, right?
SPEAKER_11:She is. She is coming.
SPEAKER_21:I met Judy here through Mr. and Mrs. Woods. And it was it last month, Yince gave me the Daily Bible, and she signed it. She said, I love Harry and Rena. Every time I came to church, she asked me how I was doing since my wife died. But I think she's in a better place talking to my wife right now. And I'm glad I got a chance to know your mom and your sister and everybody with her family. And I'm glad I met you. I'm glad I met her. She meant a lot to me. She every time I walked through that door, she goes, Harry, did you read the Bible yet? I said, Yes, I read it last night. I read it this morning. And she she said, You did a good thing. I'm doing a good thing every day now. Because you're a mom. Thanks, Harry. And Mr. and Mrs. Woods.
SPEAKER_20:Morning, George. I'd just like to say, many, many years ago at the old Harmor Church here is where I met Judy at. And one of the um incidents that I had talked to her about, and she was having problems with her roof. And uh she told me about praying and put your burdens in the Lord. And lo and behold, the next week uh a company had come in and done her roof for free. And I'll never, never forget that. How she laid her burdens.
SPEAKER_11:Yeah. Thank you. She gave God all the praise, right?
SPEAKER_03:I'm gonna cry. I know I am. Um she just has a special place in my heart. I would go over and spend a day with her when I got laid off in the winter. And um we'd play boggle with Jenny. Um, and um she would cook, we'd spend a day, we'd watch movies, we'd have pajama days. We'd have Bible studies. I'm gonna miss her. I did get to see her on Wednesday evening. I was that God bless God blessed me with a few minutes with her, and um I told her how selfish I was that I didn't want her to go, but I didn't want her to suffer either, so I held her hand and we prayed for a while. It was a beautiful time, so thank you, God, for that. And um, I know she's up there singing and dancing with the Lord. She has all the air in her lungs now that she needs.
SPEAKER_11:All she needs. Hallelujah. Two Debs. Hold on, Deb. You're the veteran.
SPEAKER_15:I had gone to Judy's house. There were things that I needed to sell, and I had heard that she was really good on eBay. And she knew her prices. What I might have suggested, and even my brother had things to sell. Oh no, no, this is worth a lot more than that. And she would just post that up on eBay. And I mean, as soon as it went up, I mean, the items were just sold right away. She was good at what she did. And um, she when as I had gone to her house, she did tell me a story how, you know, this was like her ministry, and God blessed her, um, using eBay so she was able to get extra money. And then she went on to tell me about how God blessed her because, you know, when her husband died, she didn't know how she was gonna uh be able to afford a house or keep the house and you know, and she just blessed me by telling me how God you was using her, but not realizing that she was blessing others, you know, through this um uh ministry of putting things on eBay, um, like for me, and and like I said, things that I thought wasn't, well, can you put this on eBay or what? And she just knew her prices. But one thing I will say about Judy is too that let's face it, when she came, and anytime you saw her, she always had a kind word to say to everyone. I don't care what you could have been Donna Dumps or whatever, she always had that kind word. Um she was always uplifting and edifying, you know, you and um and even with her going to estate sales, I thought, oh Judy, that was really nice. Where'd you get that? She'd tell me, oh, I got it at the state sale. And let's face it, she was one of the best dressed persons. I mean, I mean, she her clothes is like, wow, you got that at the state cell, yeah. And she would tell me, you know, I only paid this one. I was like, oh my god. And then my sister Donna came with this person, like, oh Donna, I really like this person. She's yeah, Judy and I went to the state cell and she would get this person. I was like, oh my God, I mean, just beautiful. But she was just a beautiful person inside the knob.
SPEAKER_11:Amen. Thank you, Deb.
SPEAKER_23:Well, I've known Judy since I was young. Me and Jenny used to go in the middle bedroom and put her shoes on and other things, and you know, I only got my ears pierced in that room with Jenny. But I want to really thank Judy for bringing me into the fold with some of the ladies here. Jeannie and Sandy, you know, she invited me in to play cards with them, and I don't know, it just was a good thing. And I've had friends because of Judy, and I just love her and I'm gonna miss her. And what a wonderful woman you had. And I did have a I was listening to the radio coming today, and it was this Jazzy Christian song, and I could I thought of Judy and thought she's up there doing the bossa nova. You know, was somebody. So yeah, I just thank you, I thank the Lord for her, and I know that she's up there. And uh like you know that you know that you know that that woman is with the Lord.
SPEAKER_11:Amen. Thanks, Debbie.
SPEAKER_00:About three years ago, I went to a yard sale with Judy, and we're going across the street, and there was a raised area in the sidewalk, and I tripped and I fell, and I shattered my elbow. So Judy took me to the emergency room, and they took the bone shatters out and put rods and pins and screws in, and she never ever called me that she didn't say, How's your arm? So I sued the city of New Kensington three years ago. And a week ago, they called me and settled. So I had to call Judy and tell her, Judy, it's done. Don't worry anymore, it's done.
SPEAKER_11:Hallelujah. Well, that's Andy. You were on my bad eye side, I couldn't see.
SPEAKER_18:Um Judy was a big part of my life. I've only known her maybe four or five years, but I have no family, and and she was always there for me. Always there for me. She even even um last week, last week she called me, she says, we have to take Carol to lunch. We have to and she was sick as she was, and she couldn't she couldn't even make it to the car. I had almost had to carry her into the car. We drove to Leechberg and picked up Carol and took her to lunch at the bonfire, and she ordered a big fish, but she could only eat a couple pieces. And uh we came home and we prayed. Of course, we prayed. And then Jeannie and I got to see her on Tuesday, and uh I got so mad at her because she's she was she says it's up to the Lord. If he wants me, come and get me, you know. And and she told me she says, You remind me of Velcro, because I'm I'm stuck with you, or you're stuck with me. So, yeah, that was my duty, and it's my heart's breaking, and I I'm gonna miss her so much.
SPEAKER_11:It's beautiful. Thank you, Cindy.
SPEAKER_06:Um, yeah, I didn't have a lot of experience with duty. Every time I was here, I go duty. You know, she just laughed and stuff, but yeah, she would she gives me the the to admire her of her strength too, to keep going. She'd I always you know she'd be still driving and you know doing this stuff, but she always was she's the nicest lady I've ever met. But uh God bless her. Did she went I know too? We know she went to heaven. Because that jooty dooty dooty.
SPEAKER_11:Amen. Jamie?
SPEAKER_16:Um, beautiful celebration, right? So nice to hear how Judy has touched all of our lives, and she certainly touched mine, but there's gonna be an official celebration of life uh November 14th. That's a Friday at noon, and there's a sign-up sheet out there. Um so before you leave, if you like to keep the celebration of her life going, please sign up. Let us know how many people are coming. Okay? All right.
unknown:Thanks, Jenny.
SPEAKER_11:All right, Keddy, lead us in prayer. Sure.
SPEAKER_19:Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we do thank you for this day. Thank you for bringing everyone in here together. It's times like this when we don't always understand why or or what you're doing, but you can see that it's through these things that people do come together. I pray for the family, Lord, but I already know that they're comforted by you. We already know where Judy is. And she doesn't have to drive that car anymore. My God, that car was bad. But Father, thank you for for what you're doing here, and thank you for this service. Thank you for this body of believers. It's made a change in everybody's lives and uh it's just a wonderful place to be, Lord, and we know that you're here with us. We give you all the praise. Let your will be done here, Father, in Jesus' name. Amen.
unknown:Amen.
SPEAKER_11:Thanks, buddy.
