The Gospel's Symphony

Pastor Bob Ezatoff Season 2 Episode 32

Something vital is missing from today's church. Even in supposedly "Spirit-filled" congregations, believers are being denied access to their greatest source of power - the baptism in the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues.

As one Assembly of God church member confided to our pastor, her own Pentecostal church seemed ashamed of this experience, neither encouraging nor providing opportunities for believers to receive it. What should be celebrated as essential power for Christian living has been relegated to hushed conversations behind closed doors. The modern church has traded spiritual power for political correctness and palatability.

The sermon takes us to Acts 19, where Paul encounters disciples who were already saved but completely unaware the Holy Spirit had come in power. Like many Christians today, they were "deficient in understanding" - attending Spirit-filled churches without comprehending the manifestations or power available to them. They knew about the Holy Spirit but didn't know He had come to empower believers.

Most striking is the revelation that Jesus Himself depended on the Holy Spirit throughout His earthly ministry - conceived by the Spirit, led by the Spirit, anointed by the Spirit, crucified and raised by the Spirit's power. If Jesus needed the Holy Ghost, if the apostles needed the Holy Ghost, then today's believers desperately need this baptism too - perhaps now more than ever as darkness increases.

The message concludes with the powerful story of the Azusa Street Revival, sparked when William Seymour, a holiness preacher, brought the message of Holy Spirit baptism to Los Angeles in 1906. Though initially rejected and thrown out of churches, Seymour's faithfulness triggered a movement that spread worldwide and continues today.

If you sense there's something more to your Christianity, you're right. God promises to meet you where you are, transforming you from a complacent, ineffectual believer into a dynamo of spiritual power. Speaker 1:

But not because of you, but because.

Speaker 2:

He is good and you will not have room to receive Him. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, woo.

Speaker 3:

Hello, welcome to Valley Gospel Church. We are a non-denominational Pentecostal church located in Springdale, Pennsylvania. Our sole mission is to present the living truth of a risen Lord Jesus Christ to a remnant church and a lost world. So let's go into the service recorded live at Valley Gospel Church.

Speaker 4:

We worked for a woman. It was a pretty big job. We put in a lot of trees, some stonework. It was a pretty big job. We put in a lot of trees, some stonework. She was a business owner and we worked there for about a week and as that time passed we found out that she was a spirit-filled believer.

Speaker 4:

She attended an Assembly of God church and when she found out through our conversations over this week, when she found out that I was a Pentecostal pastor, she expressed a concern to me. And here was the concern. She was dismayed that the full gospel Pentecostal church, her church in particular, did not encourage, nor did it provide opportunity for members to receive the mighty baptism in the Holy Ghost, didn't pray, didn't lay hands that seekers for that experience might receive. In fact, she lamented that her church discouraged and actually seemed ashamed of this part of the church, ashamed of this part of the church. Now I realize that this experience, I realize this now more than ever, that this experience is what every church needs. It is what every Christian needs and what every Christian should desire, and it is being minimized and neglected. The most important aspect of our Christian walk subsequent to salvation is being locked out. It's put aside. In today's modern church it's rarely spoken of, and when it is, it's in hushed tones in private little rooms. It's as if the spirit-filled church of today call it by whatever name you want Pentecostal, holiness, church of God, assembly of God, united Pentecostal, holiness, church of God, assembly of God, united Pentecostal, whatever they're feeling that the experience is unenlightened and is not acceptable.

Speaker 4:

In this era of political correctness and church correctness, we now preach not only a woke church and a woke gospel, but a new and improved gospel, a gospel that ignores sin, a gospel that says work produces faith, a gospel that says the church is the purpose, a gospel that says the gifts have passed away. Come on, people. Well, pastor, it took you exactly four minutes to go negative. Maybe, christy, let's go to work. I really pray that you don't view it as negative. But look, I'm not called to preach you giddy. I'm not called to give you positive messages. Only, I'm called to teach you how to walk in faith and power. Hallelujah and victory. Churches today want to preach just the melody. Think about this, colette. This will make sense to you. Music is important to the church. Music is important to God, amen. You look back in all the Old Testament, when power fell and manifestations happened, it was always accompanied by a symphony, hallelujah, hundreds and hundreds of musicians and singers, but today we want to preach just the melody.

Speaker 2:

We want to just hum it.

Speaker 4:

That's all the gospel we want. Imagine if our worship team just hummed the songs no orchestration, no words, just hum the song Hallelujah, instead of when we've been there 10,000 years. Right, imagine not hearing orchestration. This ungodly direction the church has taken is a trap. It's a trap of the enemy. It's a spiritual, a natural and a worldly snare meant to weaken the church, to disarm the leaders, pastors evangelists, apostles, prophets, and turn us into spiritual paraplegics, hear my words today.

Speaker 4:

Church Unable to resist, unable to make a difference, unaware that there are spiritual battles, unaware that this is an assault not only on the house of God but on every Christian. And this is the spirit of Antichrist. You know, from this woke church, it said to me, and I get it all the time that I need to come into this modern 21st century preaching, and if you're thinking well, here he goes on that rant. All this darkness, all this evil in the world today, am I, am I, am I. The world and most organized religion has nearly convinced us and are convincing our children and our grandchildren that murder is choice, that same-sex marriage is just an alternate lifestyle, that unbelief is intellectual, that a liar is just a colorful yarn spinner, that fornication is just say fun, that euthanasia is natural selection based on the quality of life. Who do we think we are? That homosexuality is gay pride? Gay pride. And don't misunderstand me, I don't hate anyone. Do whatever you want. I'll still love you, make any choice you like, and I'll still love you as a man of God. This church will still love you, amen. So am I off base?

Speaker 4:

So this morning I'm serving notice on churches, on brothers, on sisters, on christians and professing christian, those that support this progressive modern theology. We will not take part. We will not be seduced. We will call sin sin sin. We will point out heresy. We will name names. We will preach this gospel without fear, favor or compromise. Amen, glory. We will preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and him crucified. We will preach and teach the baptism in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues, unashamedly, because it is the power of the church today. It was yesterday, it is today. It's the standard raised against darkness. We will resist the devil in the power of the Holy Ghost. Isaiah 59 says when the enemy you all heard my thesis on this Isaiah 59 says when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Holy Spirit raises up a standard against him.

Speaker 4:

I think the translators put the comma in the wrong place. Amen. When the enemy comes in comma. The Holy Spirit raises up a standard against him. Because without the baptism in the Holy Ghost, we cannot be all that God has called us to be. Don't think that you can. Don't say I got it all, I don't need that. We cannot stand up to Satan. You cannot effectively minister this gospel. We can't serve God with all of our mind, spirit and body Can't do it. So if you have your Bibles, turn with Chrissy, please to Acts 19. Acts 19, beginning with the first verse, 19 and 1. 1.

Speaker 3:

And it came to pass that, while Apollos was at Corinth, paul, having passed through the upper coast, came to Ephesus and, finding certain disciples, he said unto them have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed? And they said unto him we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Spirit. And he said unto them Unto what, then, were you baptized? And they said Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, john verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him, which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Speaker 4:

I'll use for a subject this morning the symphony of the gospel. Let's pray, heavenly Father. Thank you, lord Of the gospel. Let's pray, heavenly Father. Thank you, lord. Thank you for this end times, last days. Message, lord, of what the church needs. Lord, that you would clarify and make clear to our hearts and our minds, lord, what we need to seek and to better serve you. Lord, it is in the name of your beloved son we pray. Amen and amen. Amen, please be amen, amen, please be seated. Now.

Speaker 4:

We know that the men that the Apostle Paul encountered on the upper coast of Ephesus were Christians, they were followers of Christ and this is one of those arguments that seems to come up from time to time that we got all the Holy Spirit we need at salvation and that's it. There is no secondary event. There is no baptism in the Holy Spirit, there is no baptism in the Holy Spirit. We know that these people were already, these brothers were already saved. They were saved because Jesus called Paul, called them disciples. They were already saved, they were already born again, but they were deficient in their understanding. And I point that out because I believe that's where most of the church world finds themselves today deficient in our understanding Deficient. Even Christians that have chosen Pentecostal churches to attend are deficient.

Speaker 4:

I found myself in that position some 30, some odd years ago. I liked the atmosphere. I liked the service, the music. I loved the people. I knew there was something different, different, but I didn't understand the manifestations. I didn't understand the tongues and I don't really know if my pastor did either, and it certainly was never explained to us. So I certainly did not take part. I stayed away from it, didn't know anything about it. I was deficient.

Speaker 4:

Certainly we believe, but didn't experience all that God has for us, that he desires for us to have. We submit, all right, listen, we submit, but only to the point of our understanding. I don't know what he's saying. I don't know what he's talking about. I don't understand this interpretation thing. I don't get it. I don't understand the difference between praying in the spirit and the message in tongues. So just leave it alone. What makes sense to us? How we can intellectualize or fit a religious viewpoint that we have, that we've drugged from wherever I drugged from Catholicism and you drugged from Methodism, and we drugged from being a Baptist. Isn't that where some of us are? Isn't that where we find ourselves? And this is true for even also for non-spirit-filled churches. We become familiar and comfortable with what the established church tells us is acceptable. Who we watch on TV, who we listen to on the radio I never heard this guy speak. I never heard that guy speak in tongues. I never see any manifestations. Nobody's ever running around the building.

Speaker 4:

All right, we know these men Paul encounters are saved. Every time the word disciples is used, and especially in the book of Acts, it refers to born-again individuals. These men were saved but hadn't received the promise that Paul spoke about. And now they say a very curious thing in verse 2. Have you received the Holy Ghost? Since you believed? And they said unto him, we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Now.

Speaker 4:

That doesn't mean they don't know about the Holy Spirit. That doesn't mean that they weren't stupid. They knew about the Holy Spirit. That doesn't mean that they weren't stupid. They knew about the Holy Spirit. They knew they were baptized into the body through the Holy Spirit. No man comes unto Christ lest the Holy Spirit draw him. They knew all that. They knew the teachings on the Holy Spirit. They saw the Holy Spirit active in the Old Testament, in David, in the constructors of the temple. They knew that, but they didn't know. What they didn't know is the Spirit had come in power.

Speaker 4:

That Jesus spoke about. They didn't know. They didn't know he had already come, know. They didn't know he was already. He had already come, amen. They didn't know that Jesus was the baptizer in the Holy Ghost. Didn't understand John the Baptist's comment when he said yeah, I'm messing around with water, but one's coming after me. I'm not even worthy to untie his shoes. He'll baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Didn't understand that.

Speaker 4:

Now, this is the second application to today's modern church. The church doesn't know, and I don't want to say that I'm taking this as my life's mission to get them to know, but that's certainly the direction that I'm leaning, amen. It's been misunderstood, it's been misinterpreted, it's been hidden. We just don't know. We just don't know. Maybe I'm not calling anyone out, but maybe some of you just don't know. Maybe you don't know that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Ghost.

Speaker 4:

Huh, jesus was led by the Holy Ghost. Jesus, you remember when that dove came down and landed on his head? Jesus was anointed by the Holy Ghost. He was crucified by the power of the Holy Ghost. He was raised from the dead by the Holy Spirit and I get this all the time yeah, but Jesus never spoke in tongues. I think I can make a strong case that, yes, he did. Yes, he did Sermon for a different time, but I think I can make a very strong case, simply from the word of God, that Jesus in fact spoke in tongues. All of Jesus's commands, his directives to the early church came through the Holy Spirit. Jesus depended in his ministry on earth on the function, on the manifestations of the Holy Ghost. So if Jesus needed the Holy Ghost, if, if Jesus needed the Holy Ghost, if the apostles needed the Holy Ghost remember he told them don't leave home without it Huh, if the disciples, every disciple needed the Holy Ghost.

Speaker 4:

You and I need to depend on the Holy Spirit and we need this baptism now more than ever. We need that fresh anointing and we need it. We need it often to see when you're filled with the Holy Ghost. It implies that we're filled over a period of time. We get it all right at the beginning, the moment we're baptized, but we keep. You keep pouring in, you keep getting more and more and more. There is no end. It's unquenchable. This water of the Spirit. The storehouse is full and it's always full. It doesn't run low, it never gets dry. We need that new wine. We need that flickering coal fanned into a full flame. We need the coal that Isaiah talked about put on his lips Glory.

Speaker 4:

Acts 1 and 8 says ye shall receive power. After that, the Holy Ghost has come upon you so you can be my. I know it says so, you shall. So you can be my witnesses. Judea, samaria to the outermost parts of the earth. He offers us power. He offers us power for our walk, power for our journey. I don't care what you're going through. Power for our issues that we're dealing with. You know, this person is against me, that person's against me. That's the power we need, amen, power for ministry. And it's power we need if we're to fulfill that great commission. What's the great commission? Go you into all the world. Share the gospel Hallelujah Until this gospel covers the world like the waters cover the sea.

Speaker 4:

In my few years of ministry less than many, more than some I've witnessed a few things. I have been a student of the moving of the Holy Ghost in the Church of God. I've seen manifestations. I've seen them dance, I've seen them sing, I've seen them laugh, I've seen them shout, I've seen them run around the building. I've seen them bark, heard them bark like dogs. I've seen people healed and delivered, and let me just touch on that just a little bit. When healings and deliverances took place, it was after we started to see a release of manifestations, like maybe for months, even a year, prior to the healings taking place. We started to see the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. People were less ashamed, people weren't worried what someone else might think if they ran up to the altar, if they spoke in tongues, if we danced, if we danced.

Speaker 4:

I've had the privilege of seeing the Holy Spirit move in hearts and lives of God's people, and in the recent past up to the present and I don't want to say it's only been in Springdale, I think it maybe was the final year in Harmer but I've witnessed a great move of the Holy Spirit amongst God's people. Started off as a trickle, like Ezekiel said. Waters were to the ankles, then to the knees Hallelujah Then to the waist, then there was a river, a river that could not be passed over. As he prepares us as Jesus' bride, as he gets us ready to endure some trying times, us ready to endure some trying times, some hard times, and to reach the lost for God's sake and God's glory and of his kingdom. In these last but not least days and I'm not backing off of that anymore Amen, I kind of always. I don't care how we slice it, we are in the last days, amen. But not least, not least In these last two years, I sensed the Lord's presence and experienced the Holy Spirit's anointing more than I have ever experienced it before, and I have been in Pentecost since the year after we were married, 1978.

Speaker 4:

It seems to me that the power in the anointing grows stronger with every passing day. And you notice I'm I don't want to start to shout, because you miss it when I shout, so I'm going to stay calm and get this information across to you. It seems to me that the power in the anointing grows stronger not only with every passing day, but with each passing service. I sense it in our music, I sense it in the preaching, I sense it in your response to that preaching is that I've experienced a heightened sense of the presence of God. That's why I always advise, when someone says hey, my brother's got these questions, he's got these, get him in the house of God, get him in the house of God, get him in the presence of God, amen.

Speaker 4:

I've also noticed a falling away, a pulling back in certain circles. They said well, if you were just a little more moderate, there's nothing moderate about Christianity, nothing, it's full on. Pedal to the metal, falling out of windows, dancing before the ark. That's Christianity, hallelujah, hallelujah. Some certain churches that used to embrace this full gospel message, and a lot that I have a personal relationship with, are pulling back, like that ladies' church that I talked about in the beginning, that assembly of God. Some people who were once walking in power and victory have taken a mainstream path, a more moderate approach to Christianity.

Speaker 4:

In the world scene, the church of the living God is growing, but overall attendance is falling. That will click in at some point. Overall, the church of God is growing, but attendance is falling across churches. God's spirit is being absolutely poured out on the world, yet church attendance in Europe is under 10%. In the United States it's down in the 30s. It seems quite a paradox, doesn't it? We say, oh, god's doing this and God's doing that, and heaven's on the move, jesus is on the march, and yet you're telling me church attendance is down from 54% just a few years ago down in the 30s today.

Speaker 4:

But it's scriptural. It is. Scripture tells us that there would be a gathering together and a falling away, and they would happen at the same time. They would occur at the same time. The true spirit of God in the spirit-filled church, those that will resist you and I, of God in the Spirit-filled church, those that will resist you and I, those that will resist the Antichrist, the spirit of Antichrist, the remnant, are growing and growing stronger, hallelujah. Those that are rejecting the leading and the power of the Holy Ghost are shrinking and falling away, falling into another gospel, perhaps, or a social club where we come to feel good and talk about diets and how to manage our money. How can that happen? It happens because we've gotten away from the center, we've gotten away from the power source, we've parted ways with the wheel in the middle of the wheel Glory. We reject his gifts, we dismiss the experience. We've been there, done that back in 1970. I think I spoke in tongues. I got it. I'm done. We don't need a display. We don't need that emotion. We don't do that anymore. We've grown. Now we have microphones. We don't need to shout. We don't need to shout.

Speaker 4:

Years ago a couple came in to our little church in Bracken Ridge and I think I've told you about Martha Beam before. Martha Beam was this 80-year-old woman and sometimes during worship she would get happy and when she'd get happy she'd speak in tongues and she'd also this 80-year-old woman would dance. And this couple came who were very religious no-transcript that she was in error and actually did sit her down in the pew. This isn't of God, this isn't godly. And praise God. My pastor, brother Nick, set his guitar down very slowly Amen. He went down to the front. He told Martha. He said you dance until the Holy Spirit tells you to stop, martha. He said you dance until the Holy Spirit tells you to stop. Amen. And he told the couple if they'd shut up and sit down they could stay. If they wouldn't, then they could leave my, my. Now. Don't misunderstand.

Speaker 4:

I'm not saying manifestations are the focus. I'm not saying that's what we should focus on, because it is true, some are false, some are fake, some are forgeries. But we need to just pray to God that he gives us that discernment that we know the difference, hallelujah. But we don't throw the baby out with the bathwater either. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water, either. We need this outpouring now more than ever. Now, in this time, until the Holy Spirit fills every fiber of our being with living water, hallelujah. We just gloss over that. We don't even know what that means living water. What are you talking about?

Speaker 4:

We hide our Pentecostal experience and we say it's no big deal. Our testimony, how God poured out his spirit on us. That left us weak for days, hallelujah. We relegate it to the past. Or this one brother got baptized in the Holy Ghost, spoke in other tongues, couldn't say a word. You'd ask him a question, even after service. He couldn't speak in English anymore. He'd answer you in tongues and then we'd all go hysterical, laughing because nobody knew what he was saying. He couldn't get back to English. My, we relegated to the past. So no one's offended or embarrassed, and so we don't appear foolish. We're really worried about appearing foolish. Have mercy, we don't want to be old school, I want to be old school, hallelujah.

Speaker 4:

Our gospel message becomes weak. Then Our testimony gets weak, our faith gets weaker and we no longer see lives being changed. We no longer see people being healed. You know, I've always told you about the Eustace. We used to have all these miraculous, life-changing healings and manifestations in the church Told you about the woman that, this diabetic woman that had to lose weight, and she crawled back under each pew and when she got up at the end of the church you had lost 30 pounds. Miracle, miracle of miracles. You say, well, why don't we see that anymore? Our faith has become weak, our testimony has become weak. We no longer see people healed or delivered. That all changes here.

Speaker 4:

Amen, our desires to conform to the world, rather than this uncompromising word. Am I agitating you just a little bit? Good, good. This gospel had Paul and Silas thrown in prison, amen. It killed all the apostles, but from the blood of the apostles the church grew and this gospel, this full gospel, is still being preached, thank God, thank God that it is and it's still changing hearts and lives, because it is an offense. It is an offense. This book is an offense. Every Christian, all of you in here, are offenses. You're an offense to the world. You're an offense to your family that doesn't believe. Because he is God, our God will not compromise, he will not conform, he will not be minimized, he will not change Glory.

Speaker 4:

This baptism in the Holy Ghost is a supernatural experience that God has for every believer whose evidence that you received is speaking with other tongues. See, I don't like the evidence. I don't know what to tell you. It's above my pay grade. I didn't do that. This infilling is not always received at the time of salvation, immediately or immediately after being saved, but it's always after salvation. That's the only requirement to receive is that we're saved. You don't have to be baptized in the Holy Spirit to be saved. All right, and that's some of the really far right. Pentecostals will tell you that. No, that's the and it's not Scripture doesn't bear that out. Many have not received this miraculous work of God, even though God has saved them, even though they love God.

Speaker 4:

But we cannot serve him as we should without the power, you just can't. We need the power. We need the power against forces of darkness. We need the power on the job. We need the power to witness. We need the power to preach. We need the power to sing. We need the power. You need the power to go to school today, sophia. You need the power to go to school, amen, to be amongst those who don't believe, who don't Hallelujah. We need the power to help. We need the power to hear God's word when it's delivered. You need the power in your marriage. Glory, ye shall receive power. After that, the Holy Ghost has come upon you.

Speaker 4:

We need the baptism in the Holy Ghost to glorify Christ, to glorify Jesus. We glorify Jesus how? By worshiping in spirit and in truth. Why are you so concerned with spirit and truth? Why? Because God. God inhabits the praise of his people. He inhabits the songs of praise, he inhabits our lifted hands. He's there in the midst. You can guarantee his presence in our building Hallelujah. Simply by praising him, worshiping in spirit and in truth. Worshiping in spirit and in truth means that Jesus means more to you than anything else, more important than work, more important than your hobbies, more important than anything. He's paramount, he's at the top, he's tutto in tutti, he's all in all. Hallelujah. He's Jesus when you wake up. He's Jesus all day on the job, jesus when you come home and you're really tired. He's Jesus when you lay your head down. He's Jesus in the middle home and you're really tired. He's Jesus when you lay your head down. He's Jesus in the middle of the night, shouting Jesus, glory. Singing Jesus, whispering Jesus. He's Jesus on the mountaintop and he's Jesus in your valley, glory.

Speaker 4:

I'm not talking about being religious. I'm not talking about using religious phrases. Being religious. I'm not talking about using religious phrases. The religious world has rejected the baptism for many years, with answers like it's not for us, it's not for today, it's passed away. We're neutral. The church that Arabelle and I were married in said we're neutral. What do you mean? You're neutral. How can you be neutral? How can you be neutral? It's too emotional, maybe.

Speaker 4:

Maybe when we look at religion today and I'll ask you this think about it. When you look at religion today in the religious world, what do you see? And by and large, we see churches that are either dead or dying, that have no power, that stand for nothing. Lives aren't being changed, people aren't being healed and we're inviting sin into the church to keep the seats full. Where do you think the phrase God is dead comes from? Churches that lost or never had any power. No new birth, no salvation, no revival, no healings, no spiritual activity, no power, no God. Oh, our churches are full of activity. You can get cell groups or activity every night of the week. They have something everywhere. Amen, but don't confuse busy with blessing. Don't confuse prominence. It isn't power. I don't care how big your sign is outside or how well lit it is. Power is God's in the house. That's power. Lives are changed, sicknesses are being healed, people are being born again.

Speaker 4:

April 1st 1906, a black holiness preacher, william Seymour. He left Texas for California. I have a strange connection he was, he only had one eye, but he left actually Louisiana first, then Texas. He went to Texas to attend a school of the Holy Spirit that was happening in Texas and they wouldn't let him in because he was black and he could have said, oh, that's the way it's going to be and he could have walked out. He didn't. He got a chair and sat outside the window and the pastor raised the window so he could hear.

Speaker 4:

Soon after arriving in Los Angeles, california, he went to this. He was invited to preach in this little Pentecostal holiness church pastored by Julia Hutchins. He taught on the baptism in the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking with tongues. But here's the fun part, with the evidence of speaking with tongues. But here's the fun part. He had never received himself. He just read it, was convinced that it was true and began preaching it. Billy hadn't received the baptism. Pastor Hutchins, on finding out that he had never received this baptism of power threw him out of the church after one week. He only had, I think, two sermons that he had never received. This baptism of power threw him out of the church after one week. He only had, I think, two sermons that he preached, got thrown out because he had never received.

Speaker 4:

On April 9th, mr Seymour was praying with one of the parishioners Edward Lee was his name about the situation and him not being able to preach and coming all the way from Texas to California. And now what was he going to do? And on the way he had told him that there was this little house prayer meeting and told I'll call him Billy. Told Billy, I'll take you to this little house prayer meeting. And on the way there, and he was relaying to him the issues that he was in, mr Lee was baptized in the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues. And I always think about Billy had to be thinking what the hey I'm bringing this message to here and he gets it. The two of them made their way to a house meeting at 214 Bonnie Bray Street where it was arranged that Mr Seymour would be where Billy would be invited to preach, at least until he raised enough money to go back home. It was the home of Richard and Ruth Ashbery.

Speaker 4:

After his message, billy's message, mr Lee began to worship and immediately he began worshiping in the Spirit and instantly six others in that little prayer meeting began to worship in the Spirit. And as the work grew, people came by the dozens at first and were filled with the Holy Spirit. They needed a bigger place, so they moved to another venue that was once a stable and then a church, and then a slaughterhouse, then a stable again, and now it was, oh, and it was an apartment building at one point, amen, the entire building. The sanctuary was only 40 by 60. Amen, that's all it was, and they had an orange crate for a pulpit. The address was 312 Azusa, my, my Soon.

Speaker 4:

Thousands, thousands began pouring in attending services. There were three services a day, seven days a week. For three and a half years. My, after praying all night, the preacher that was moved by the Holy Spirit to bring this message from Louisiana to Texas, to California, hallelujah, was finally baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues. On the street outside of 312 Azusa, this began again what began at Pentecost 2,000 years previous, and this great move of God continues today, as thousands and tens of thousands were drawn to the meeting and participated in this strange experience. See, they thought it was something new. It wasn't anything new, it was something old. It was something old. It was something that began 2,000 years ago and began again, and all were filled with the power of God when they heard the truth. Their lives were changed and there are still a few witnesses that were at Azusa that testify how the power fell.
