Rise Up

Pastor Bob Ezatoff Season 2 Episode 21

The concept of a "remnant" isn't just biblical history—it's a powerful spiritual reality unfolding before our eyes. Like quality carpet remnants cut from the original roll, God's remnant people maintain the same purpose and quality despite being fewer in number.

Collette Quinten will guide you through an exploration into the last days remnant church. From Noah's family of eight to Elijah's 7,000 who didn't bow to Baal, from Gideon's army reduced to 300 to Jesus' faithful 120 disciples, God consistently works through committed minorities rather than compromising majorities. This pattern continues today as mainstream churches increasingly accommodate cultural pressures rather than biblical truth.

The last days remnant church bears distinctive characteristics: they follow the Holy Spirit into deeper relationship with Jesus, choose the narrow gate, die to self daily, and maintain spiritual readiness like a bride awaiting her bridegroom. They hunger for God's Word, demonstrate compassion for the lost, proclaim an uncompromising gospel, and possess spiritual discernment against deception. Though Satan rages against them (Revelation 12:17), they function as spiritual warriors equipped with God's full armor.

What makes this message so urgent? Scripture warns in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 that before Christ returns, a significant "falling away" from faith will occur. Yet amid this apostasy, God preserves a remnant by grace (Romans 11:5) who resemble the original Acts church in pure faith, sound doctrine, and sacrificial commitment.

Are you part of this remnant? The question deserves honest self-examination.  God is calling His people to rise up in these last days as revival begins to emerge. This Spirit-filled remnant will demonstrate such spiritual authority that "no power on earth will be able to ignore them." Will you answer the call to be among the faithful few who change the world?

Speaker 1:

But not because of you, but because he is good and you will not have room to receive it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Our sole mission is to present the living truth of a risen Lord, jesus Christ, to a remnant church and a lost world.

Speaker 2:

Let's get into the service recorded live at Valley Gospel Church.

Speaker 3:

You know, at our Bible study on Wednesday night, we talked a little bit about some of the deceptions that are coming into the church Paula pointed it out, I think Jamie pointed it out in her opening regarding deception, and we looked at some of the new age deceptions and, as we know, falsehoods come into the church on the back of truth. Now there's a little bit of truth there and and this coming Wednesday we're going to look at the NAR, the New Apostolic Reformation, and it's the fastest growing organization, in the United States at least. Not only is it interesting, but it's coming into churches, whether they be denominational or independent. And I think I closed the Bible study on Wednesday just asking all of you to keep your eyes and ears open. Keep your eyes and ears open not only to the study but to our sister Colette's message today. Colette is a trusted teacher and I think what she has to share this morning is going to be awakening Amen. So, without me taking any more time, call it Quentin.

Speaker 4:

Amen, I think that sounds good, right, okay, okay. Good morning, church. I remember that many years ago I was in the market for some new carpeting. So we went to the local carpet store and this particular store didn't have samples that you kind of went through to pick out your carpeting. They sold their carpeting out of big rolls I don't even know if they do that anymore. But you just walked through the store and you went from roll to roll to see the carpeting you wanted. You gave the salesman your dimensions and they would cut the carpet, deliver it and install it. But those last cuttings from the roll were sold as remnants and these remnants were usually stored away from the original rolls, somewhere in the back of the store. And if you were lucky enough to find the size and carpet you wanted, you could save money by buying a remnant. But even though these were remnants and they were leftovers, they were still of good quality because they were cut from the good quality of the original roll. And even though they were remnants or leftovers, they were still going to serve the same purpose of being beautiful and durable as any other carpet cut from the original roll.

Speaker 4:

So, church of the Living God, you are a remnant and the title of today's message is Rise Up Remnant. Let's pray, father, I thank you for this message that you've given. I thank you, lord, that it is an end time message for your remnant church. I pray that you give us ears to hear that this word would find lodging in our hearts and in our lives and be manifest in our lives in this dark time, in these last days. Help me to clearly communicate this morning, lord, in Jesus name, amen.

Speaker 4:

So what you might have already decided was the definition of a remnant. It's a leftover or a smaller amount from a larger portion. It could refer to provisions or clothing, or even groups of people, but in the Bible it refers to God's people that are left after a catastrophe or after some sort of judgment. Now, a truth found in Scripture and all through Bible history is that God normally does work through a remnant. He does not go with the crowd or with the masses, but with a small group of committed followers who have remained faithful in their walk with the Lord and in their faith, despite everyone else around them falling away and despite judgment. This remnant was often seen as a beacon of hope and a vessel through which God would continue his work and fulfill his promises. Now, this remnant thread runs through the entire story of the Bible, and you just heard Daniel talk about some of that remnant from Jeremiah. But I'm going to give you a few examples.

Speaker 4:

Let's look at Noah. God judged the earth for its great wickedness, but he left Noah and his family only eight of them alive to restore life on the earth In the days of the Exodus. Only a remnant actually completed the trip to the promised land. And how about Elijah? Elijah thought that the entire nation of Israel had left, the Lord, had departed from them. But the Lord informed him that he had left a remnant of 7,000 that did not bow their knee to the false gods and who would serve and honor him.

Speaker 4:

Remember Gideon? Gideon had an army of 32,000 Israelites to make war against the Midianites. Many of those 32,000 lacked faith. They didn't believe that God could deliver them from the hands of their enemy, so they left the army. Many of them were afraid of the enemy, so they left the army. And many were careless and didn't take the battle before them seriously. So they left the army. And Gideon was left with 300, less than 1% of his original number. But it was this remnant that God used to deliver Israel from their oppressors. And how about our Savior Jesus? After all was said and done, he had only a remnant After three years of intense ministry. According to Acts 115, jesus had 120 faithful disciples. Where were the thousands that thronged him and followed him everywhere he went? The scriptures say that the majority of them turned him and followed him everywhere he went. The scriptures say that the majority of them turned away and followed him no more, but that 120, empowered by the holy spirit, turned the whole known world at that time upside down through evangelism amen so.

Speaker 4:

So, from the beginning, israel has been God's elect nation, a nation that he foreknew, a nation he selected to be his people and he would be their God. At no time in Israel's history was the entire nation faithful to God. God, they tended to embrace the cultures of the societies they were living in and they would leave worshiping the one true God to worship the gods of those of those cultures, gods made out of wood and stone. Today's church serves as God's chosen people and, like the children of Israel, the church has become a sinful nation. We're learning now that the mainstream denominational churches operate without the Holy Spirit. They have a form of godliness, they're religious, but they're devoid of power. There's no evidence of spiritual gifts in operation. They appease sin, they teach tolerance and diversity and they've eliminated the preaching of the cross and the blood and repentance and heaven and hell and judgment. So the time in which we live is no different from Old Testament Israel or the New Testament churches in the book of Revelation. Remember, in Revelation, jesus was speaking to the Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos and he was speaking to him about the seven churches, and Jesus said six out of these seven churches, this is what I have against you. You have left your first love. You're not hot, you're not cold, but you're lukewarm, and you've allowed false teaching to lead you into spiritual idolatry and the immorality. So, knowing the current state of the church, we can understand second Thessalonians, chapter 2, verse 3. That tells us before Christ returns, there is going to be a falling away from the faith and from truth, but the beauty of God's plan is he promises there will always be a faithful remnant. Romans 8. Romans 11 5 tells us. Even so, then, at this present time, there is a remnant according to the election of grace. In these last days, church god is still doing a work that's going to impact the world. He's calling out and raising up a holy remnant church, dedicated to Jesus Christ and focused on doing his work in these last days, a group of people who are steadfast and who are sure of their God. The last days remnant church has distinct characteristics that distinguish it from the rest of the church world.

Speaker 4:

I'm going to give you a picture of what the last days remnant church looks like and I'm also going to give you a challenge, because, as God was giving me this message, he was challenging me, and the challenge is examine yourself. Paul says examine yourself to see if you're in the faith and ask yourself the question am I part of the remnant? Is the picture of the remnant church the picture of my life? So ask yourself that question as we look at the remnant church. The remnant church looks like sons and daughters of God hearing from and following the Holy Spirit into a deeper walk in relationship with Jesus, shutting out the things of the world and turning to the things of God. This remnant church looks like the few that have chosen to enter in at the narrow gate, because wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction. The remnant church looks like those who take up their cross daily and died to self, pure vessels fit for the Masters, youth that walk in holiness and righteousness. And the remnant church looks like a bride One of my favorite pictures A bride who keeps herself pure and unspotted from the world because her bridegroom is coming soon and even though she doesn't know when he's going to come, she keeps her lamp full of oil, looking for his return.

Speaker 4:

The remnant church looks like believers who are hungry after God's word, no longer hungry after the things of this world, but hunger after God's word, who study God's word, diligently to show themselves approved. They obey the word of God, they stand on the word of God and they walk in its authority. The remnant church looks like those like jesus. Jesus had a love for the lost, so this remnant church are believers who have that same love for the lost. So they equip themselves and they are obedient to the command and, as a great commission, to go into all the world and make disciples. This remnant church looks like preachers and teachers who preach and teach an uncompromising gospel, remaining true to the biblical principles in spite of opposition from the culture that they live in. This remnant church is a church that will not be deceived by false prophets, false doctrine, seducing spirits that try to lure them away from the truth of the gospel.

Speaker 4:

In revelation 12, 17, the scripture says that satan is angry with the last days remnant church and he wages war against him. But this last days remnant church and he wages war against them, but this last day's remnant church is an army of warriors. They are strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. They are dressed in the full armor of God, facing every day in full battle gear, head to toe, full battle gear. These warriors are vigilant, they are watchful and they are always on the alert because they know the tactics of the enemy who seeks to devour them every day. And this last day's remnant church looks like the original church in the Book of Acts, where faith was pure, where doctrine was pure and there was no wavering from the basics of the faith.

Speaker 4:

The last days remnant church looks like the early church in the book of Acts, with believers willing to sacrifice everything for the cause of Christ. And the remnant church will share some of the same commitment as that early church in gathering together, not forsaking the gathering or assembling of themselves, but gathering together and supporting each other as family. So let me ask you that question again are you part of that remnant? Did you see your life in those descriptions? You might be saying I saw my life in all of those descriptions, or you might be saying I didn't see my life in all of those.

Speaker 4:

The Remnant Church is not a perfect church, but the Remnant Church is always, always quick to confess and repent if sin and compromise has crept into their life, always quick to ask the Holy Spirit to give them a fresh outpouring of his power. So the summary of this message is this the remnant church will be those who have a simple faith, who love Jesus Christ above all else and will obey and not compromise his word. It will be a people filled with the Holy Spirit and fire, and these are pastor Bob's words and immovable, unshakable force for the glory of God. Don't you want to be that church? Yes, thank you Jesus. The church, god is on the move. We're hearing and seeing pockets of revival breaking out. So God is calling his remnant church to rise up and join him where he is at work. For such a time as this, in these last days, we are so needed and this remnant church is going to be on fire for God because they are going to be filled with the Holy Ghost and they are going to rock the foundations of hell. And no power on earth is going to be able to ignore us, to ignore the spiritual authority of the remnant church, and Satan, satan himself, will not be able to stand against us. Satan, satan himself, will not be able to stand against us. So, church, are you hearing the voice of God telling you to rise up and be a part of this remnant? If so, rise up, remnant. We have work to do. Amen, amen. Thank you, Jesus, and you know what?

Speaker 4:

Before we end the service, I do have one more thing to say, and it's about Father's Day. I want to address the fathers and the stepfathers who are still raising kids, you grandpaps that are still having an influence in the life of your grandkids, and what I want to say to you is a challenge, and it's a challenge based on today's message, and the challenge is this Rise up, men of this remnant church, and take your place in your families and lead them into the deeper things of God, because shallow Christianity just isn't going to work in these last days. Rise up, men of this remnant church, and take your place in your workplace, in your communities, with the unsaved people in your lives, and be a living, breathing testimony of Jesus Christ and what he can do in a surrendered life. You're not going to find that on a homework card. God bless you, fathers, amen.

Speaker 1:

You came up being good and your self-righteous pain Caused the only good inside your heart. It's the good that Jesus brings, and when the world begins to see you change, don't expect them to applaud. Just keep your eyes on Him and tell yourself I've become a work of God, I have decided on him.

Speaker 5:

And tell yourself see, I'm gonna live. I have that being good. I just can't. I'm going to leave it to the Lord.

Speaker 1:

There's a wealth of things that I professed. I said that I believed, but deep inside I never changed. I guess I've been deceived, but a voice inside kept telling me that I changed my body. But the spirit made it clear to me that kind of life's, of life so high I have decided.

Speaker 5:

I'm gonna live like a believer, turn my back on the deceiver. I'm gonna live what I believe. I have decided that being good is just a fable. I just can't cause, I'm not able. I'm gonna leave it to the lord. The cross before me, the world behind me, the cross before me, the world behind me. The cross before me, the world behind me. Sing it out. The cross before me, the world behind me.

Speaker 1:

A turning back, a turning back. Oh, take this whole world.

Speaker 5:

Just give me Jesus. Oh, take this whole world, just give me Jesus, take this whole world, just give me Jesus. No turning back, no turning back.

Speaker 1:

No turning back. So forget the game of being good and your self-righteous pain, Cause the only good inside your heart is the good that Jesus brings. When the world begins to see you change, don't expect them to applaud. Just keep your eyes on him and tell yourself I've become the work of God.

Speaker 5:

Here we go. I have decided I'm going to live like a believer, turn my back on the deceiver. I'm gonna live what I believe. I have decided that being good is just a fable. I just can't cause. I'm not able.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna leave it to the Lord. He is risen cause I'm not able, I'm gonna leave it to the lord.

Speaker 5:

He is risen. He is risen. Come on celebrate. Oh, come on celebrate. Oh, come on celebrate. No-transcript.
