The Heart Tells No Lies
Your heart tells no lies. This piercing truth stands at the center of spiritual authenticity—what we claim with our words means nothing if our hearts beat for something else.
In this episode, Reverend John Jackson confronts the reality of two distinct heart conditions that determine our spiritual trajectory. The first is the cheating heart—a heart that professes loyalty to God while secretly longing for worldly desires. This divided heart leaves believers spiritually weak, unable to withstand life's inevitable storms. Like Solomon, who received divine wisdom but developed a wandering heart, those with cheating hearts discover that sin poisons like a viper, destroys like a canker worm, and devours like a lion.
The consequences are devastating: loss of light, joy, peace, fellowship, and confidence. Scripture warns that regardless of our attempts to hide our true condition, "your sin will find you out" because your heart tells no lies. When we stand before God, all will be exposed.
The alternative—a pure heart—responds like David in Psalm 139 with humble surrender: "Search me, O God, and know my heart." This invitation for divine examination leads to genuine transformation. Through powerful personal testimony, we hear how Jesus performs spiritual heart surgery, replacing hearts of stone with hearts that beat for Him alone. This divine heart transplant brings love, joy, peace, and spiritual strength where only bondage existed before.
The stakes couldn't be higher. While people die from physical heart disease, far more perish eternally from spiritual heart disease. God looks not at outward appearances but directly at your heart. He sees what others cannot, and He offers cleansing and restoration to anyone willing to surrender.

But not because of you, but because he is good and you will not have room to receive it. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Woo, oh yeah. Hello, welcome to Valley Gospel Church. We are a non-denominational Pentecostal church located in Springdale, Pennsylvania. Our sole mission is to present the living truth of a risen Lord Jesus Christ to a remnant church in a lost world. So let's go into the service recorded live at Valley Gospel Church.
Speaker 3:Church. Remember the heart tells no lies. This is one I'd like to talk about. Two types of hearts In Jeremiah 17,.
Speaker 3:Jeremiah talks about two kinds the wicked and the righteous. So the first I want to talk about today is the cheating heart. It's coupled with hypocrisy. A cheating heart claims to be, claims to love only one, but is always flirting with others. That's a cheating heart. People claim faithfulness to God and, at the same time, are flirting with the world and sin. That's a cheating heart. Listen, whenever you're flirting with the world and sin, your heart is not right and you're cheating. You have a cheating heart. A cheating heart is one that is divided because of unfaithfulness. We've all heard that a high divided will not stand. You can't serve two masters. The heart can't be divided when it comes to serving God. In James 1, it just says A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Church, when I think about a cheating heart, it's sad, because when you're cheating yourself, there's no winners. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3:Remember in 2 Chronicles 7? Chronicles 1, 7 through 12? Remember that, brother Solomon. God said Solomon, what do you want? He said I want wisdom. God gave him wisdom, but Solomon, he developed a cheating heart and that cheating heart will keep you spiritually weak. You will have no strength to draw on in time of trouble when Solomon's troubles hit. What does Solomon do?
Speaker 3:Brother Solomon found out that sin is poisonous like a viper. Sin is stubborn like a mule. Sin is cruel like a bear. Sin is stubborn like a mule. Sin is cruel like a bear. Sin is destructive like a canker worm. Sin is unclean like a wild dog. Sin is cunning like a fox. Sin is fierce like a wolf. Sin devours like a lion. Sin is filthy like a swine church. Because the effects of sin in our lives. We lose light With sin in your life. You lose joy. With sin in your life you lose peace, you lose love, you lose fellowship. You lose a lot of confidence. When your heart's not right. It says in Numbers 32, 23,. It says your sin will find you out, because your heart tells no lies. Hallelujah, listen. You can try to fool yourself into thinking that no one knows.
Speaker 3:But I know this God will expose Church. Your heart tells us lies. Ecclesiastes 12, 14 says God will bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it's good or whether it's to be evil. Your heart tells all the lies. A cheating heart. A cheating heart. Let's look at another heart. It's called a pure heart. A pure heart, a pure heart. It cries out like David did in Psalm 139. It says search me, o Lord, search me, o God, and know my heart, tell me and know my thoughts and see if there's any wicked way in me and lead me in the way of everlasting See. That search means in Hebrew, meaning for the word to penetrate, to examine deeply. That's what it means. You said God will search you. You better be careful because he will. He'll bring some things out that you didn't know was in there. We serve a mighty God, jim. He loves us, he gives us his best. When I was thinking about coming out on Palm Sunday, I ain't got a message. I said you got a message.
Speaker 3:This ain't on Jesus riding the drill room, that's all you know, but when you think about the goodness of Jesus and all he's done for you, you ought to want to have a pure heart. I tell you what when David cried out, search me, oh Lord. I could see David was on his face Because he knew his heart wasn't right and he wanted God to change him from the inside out. And you want God to change you from the inside out. With a pure heart, righteous men. They have strength, because trouble's coming Now. Trouble don't last always, but trouble's coming. So get your heart right with God. He loves you. He gave you the best. We'll come up in a week.
Speaker 3:Today's Palm Sunday. Good Friday, sunday's Easter. God gave you the best we could ever wish for and want. He gave us his son. For what he gave us his son.
Speaker 3:It's just said this, bob the Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible. 2 Timothy 3, 16-17. This is all scriptures given by the inspiration of God, and it's possible for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God, the woman of God, may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good work. That's the word the pure heart says.
Speaker 3:Come, holy Ghost, search out my innermost man, shine unto me the hidden parts of my heart. Search me, o Lord. Eat me of everything invisible. Prove, expose, reveal and dig out the things I love you. Remove the self-centeredness, the self-righteousness, the unfaithfulness, the stinginess, the rebellion, all the immorality. Take it out, lord. Take everything that is unlike you from my heart. Lord, god knows your heart and he's waiting like this. Come on, come on, come unto me all you weary souls. He said. I will give you rest, lord, search me and give me a new heart. I want to bring a rock into it from outside. I'm going to show you, guys, this is my heart. At one time it was like this rock, oh. But my God has changed that hard rock, my hard heart, and he's developing me a heart that's becoming pure and pure every day, amen.
Speaker 3:That rock today that I had was full of sin and I think about if I asked Jesus to come into my heart, jesus would not be sitting here, I wouldn't be standing up here Because of things on the heart I couldn't get out. I couldn't get out. I tried to, I tried. I got tired of spending a thousand dollars. I got tired of spending money. I got tired.
Speaker 3:But I couldn't stop. But I couldn't stop. My heart was hard because I had a cheating heart. Then, about 27 years ago, I did like David did. I got on my knees and fell on my face, asked God for his mercy and Jesus took me into surgery that day. He took me and did me a heart transplant. I went to the surgery with the heart of stone and I woke up from recovery and I had a new heart in the arms of Jesus. He took my black eye, washed it in the blood and now it's white as snow.
Speaker 3:Church, this is my heart now, as I stand here today. It's tender. Jesus, daily removing the imperfections. Oh, I might not be everything, but I'm not what I used to be, because my Jesus is putting in some love. He's putting in some joy, some peace, some long-suffering, some gentleness, some good news, more faith, some meekness, some temperance, some kindness, some generosity and, most of all, more willingness to serve him. You know, church, people die from heart disease, but more people will perish because of heart disease. But more people will perish because of heart disease. You hear what I said People die from heart disease. I hear about people dying from heart disease all the time.
Speaker 3:Just remember, your heart will tell no lies when you stand in judgment. You just don't know Jesus. You just don't know what I was going through. You don't know Jesus. I'm telling you, forget it, because your heart tells no lies. If you love God, your heart screams it. But if you're a liar, a thief, a hypocrite, your heart won't scream like it should.
Speaker 3:I remember, in 1 Samuel 16, 7, it says this the Lord sees not the man's fear For man looking on the hour of the marriage. God looks on your heart. You know what's hidden in your heart. God says it's time to clean it up, it's time to get right. I I'm in some studies. I was telling people like I was messed up. Man, I was just messed up.
Speaker 3:I said, you know, once I asked Jesus to come into my heart and he saved me and put my feet on solid ground. I'm so thankful today as I stand here today, because my heart was changed, my heart was changed. I wouldn't be today as I stand here today because my heart was changed, my heart was changed. I wouldn't be able to stand up here and tell you about the love of God, the hope we have, the love he shows us. I couldn't do it, but I do it because my heart's been changed.
Speaker 3:It's time, church, to clean up your heart. Or might I say let God clean your heart, because your heart tells no lies. Well, just think about this now. We all know what's in our hearts. We all know, come on now. We all know some stuff on now. We all know some stuff ain't anything good, ted. We know it, but what do you do about it? I'm telling you what you can do. You go to the need and say Jesus, come into our heart. Lord, clean my heart. Lord, work in and work through me that I can be who you call me to be. That's what he wants to do.
Speaker 3:So remember, church your heart will tell no lies. You can fool people all day long, but you can't fool God. Thank you this morning, church. Thank you, come on church. Thank you. Come on now. Who else is heart changed? Get your heart right with God. Walk around and act like we're all that, we ain't nothing, but I'm just thankful for my changed heart, what God has done for me and through me. Church. If there's anybody here that needs prayer, you know, sometimes we just realize something ain't right. You know what I mean, kurt. You know it. But you got to do something about it. That's what God sent his son, jesus. He'll help you do something about it, church. So that's my prayer for us today To get our hearts right with God.
Speaker 3:I thank you, god bless you. Thank you with God. I thank you, god bless you, thank you.

Speaker 1:There's a wealth of things that I professed. I said that I believed, but deep inside I never changed. I guess I'd been deceived and a voice inside kept telling me that I'd changed by and by. But the Spirit made it clear to me that kind of life's a lie. So forget the game of being good and your self-righteous pain, cause the only good inside your heart Is the good that Jesus brings. When the world begins to see you change, don't expect them to applaud. Just keep your eyes on Him and tell yourself I've become the work of God. I have decided I'm gonna live like a believer. Turn my back on the deceiver. I'm gonna live what I believe. I have decided that being good is just a fable. I just can't cause, I'm not able. I'm gonna leave it to the Lord. So forget the game of being good, and your self-righteous pain Cause the only good and your self-righteous pain Cause the only good. Inside your heart is the good that Jesus brings. And when the world begins to see you change, don't expect them to applaud. Just keep your eyes on Him and tell yourself I've become the work of God. Oh, let's sing it. I have decided I'm gonna live like a believer. Turn my back on the deceiver. I'm gonna live what I believe. I have decided that being good is just a fable. I just can't cause. I'm not able. I'm gonna leave it to the Lord. Holy, sing it again. I have decided. I have decided I'm gonna live like a believer. Turn my back on the deceiver. I'm gonna live what I believe. I have decided that being good is just a fable. I just can't cause. I'm not able. I'm gonna leave it to the Lord. He is risen. He is risen and he lives forevermore. Praise Him. He is risen. He is risen. Come on, celebrate. Come on, celebrate, oh, come on, celebrate Resurrection. There's a wealth of things that I professed. I said that I believed, but deep inside I never changed. I guess I'd been deceived and the voice inside kept telling me that I'd changed by and by. But the Spirit made it clear to me that kind of life's a lie. Oh, let's sing it. I have decided I'm gonna live like a believer, turn my back on the deceiver. I'm gonna live what I believe. I have decided that being good is just a fable. I just can't cause, I'm not able. I'm gonna leave it to the Lord. Oh, come, let us sing to the Lord. Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving. Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise, for the Lord is a great God and a great king above all gods. Oh, let's continue to worship him this morning. Come on, praise Him, praise Him, oh, praise Him. In the morning, praise Him. In the noontime, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him till the sun goes down. Oh, come on, serve Him, serve Him. Oh, serve Him in the morning, serve Him. In the noontime, serve Him, serve Him. Serve Him till the sun goes down. Well, glory, glory, oh, hallelujah, sing it out. Oh, since I laid my burdens down, my friends don't see me. Oh, like they used to. Since I laid my burdens down, my friends don't see me Like they used to. Since I laid my burdens down, I'm gonna lay down my burdens down by the riverside, my Lord, down by the riverside, my Lord Down by the riverside, down by the riverside. I'm gonna lay down my burdens Down by the riverside. I'm gonna study war no more. Well, I ain't gonna study war no more. Ain't gonna study war no more. I'm gonna put on my long white robe Down by the riverside, way down Down by the riverside, down by the riverside. I'm gonna put on my long white robe, down by the riverside. I'm gonna study war no more. Let's sing it out. Well, I ain't gonna study war no more. Ain't gonna study war no more. Ain't gonna study war no more. Ain't gonna study war no more. Oh, hallelujah, jesus, we came to glorify your name this morning, jesus, there's nowhere else. We'd rather be Lord. And the multitudes that went before and followed cried, saying Hosanna to the Son of David. Blessed is he that comes in the name of our Lord. Hosanna in the highest, oh, come on, let's praise him some more. Hosanna in the highest, oh, come on, let's praise him some more. Well, I am so wondrously saved from sin. Jesus so sweetly abides within, there at the cross, where he took me in. Glory to his name, oh, let's sing it. I went. Glory to his name, glory, glory, glory to his precious, holy name. There to my heart was his precious blood applied. Well, glory to his name. Well, glory to his name, glory to his name. There to my heart was the precious blood of mine. Glory to His name, come on and praise Him, praise Him. Praise Him in the morning, praise Him in the noontime, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him, praise Him till the sun goes down. Oh, will the circle be unbroken? Oh, by and by, lord, by and by, bye and bye, lord, bye and bye. Well, there's a better home awaiting in the sky. Lord in the sky. Oh, glory to his name, glory, glory, glory to his name. Well, there to my heart was a precious blood applied. Glory to His name, yes, lord.
